Have you set a password in the Network Menu? Are you getting a prompt for user/password when you telnet to the box. The default used to be root/blank, but it's now root/whateveryousetup.

Hi Joe
thanks for the reply

i tried without password and then with a password i setup on the receiver and i get the following message

"Network Error: Permission Denied " ? in a pop up.
running putty on windows 10 via VM router , Gigablue , now with network password set connected to same router .

if i try with Winscp i get the same message

Sounds like a firewall permission or anti-virus setting is blocking your access to the Gigablue. You may have to dig around in your firewall settings in Win 10 to permit telnet/winscp to run. In Putty can you even ping the IP address of the GB box?

Hi Joe
i have tried to ping my receiver using cmd prompt
get 4 x general failure message ( 4 packets sent )
Packets sent = 4 , Packets received = 0 lost = 4 ( 100% loss )

Recheck box ip to see if it is correct and lan is working.

Redo password on box with remote and save.

Try Filezilla with box ip and root and your password to see if that enters

Thanks for the response , same result , i am beginning to think when i debloated windows it blocked access to something required .

Might you have another pc to try on as i had a connection error on laptop but went straight in on desktop.

Your modem is it locked out for connecting boxes to.

Would a wired network lan cable give direct access?

What do you mean by "debloated windows"? You could have well removed services that you need to connect with other devices.

Is telnet running on your box?
menu/setup/network/utilities/telnet

To find the setting you may have to set expert mode
menu/setup/system/customise settings/setup mode = expert

That's what i thought late last night so will break out my old PC and see if that works

I think telnet is enabled by default, but you've checked and it is running. I'm pretty sure this is a Win 10 permissions/setting/firewall issue.

Good Evening Guys
so after sorting out my back up PC i can now connect to box with PuTTy , but it seems i may have misunderstood what Putty does , it seems to be a Command interface . i was looking for an updated WS_FTP type program .
2 main goals insight here
1 load an APK file onto my receiver ( can this be done ?)
2 load my NordVPN program .
anyway progress at least that i can connect to box , any help with the above greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance

If you want to transfer a file to your receiver, you need an FTP client like Filezilla/WinSCP

See this post, although it refers to picons, process is the same. You would be transferring ipk to /tmp directory

You can also just use windows File Explorer just type \\ your gigablue ipaddress or even gbue4k may work then you will be asked for username and password
example : And I have gigablue quad uhd 4k

Just to add, on Vix you will have to install samba in order to do this.

Abu
but it seems there is no way of installing an APK .. it has to IPK and i don't have access to that file.
but the samba idea seems simple enough
