Hi, today when I started the device, I got no image from the TV the device is connected to.

I am able to telnet to the box, and was able to start the samba and ftp services, for me to easier check things on the device itself.

It'd seem (to me) that the enigma2 itself fails to start, the device itself seems OK, as I can telnet to it, and copy files etc to my PC from it.

there are failure to tune messages in the log - something happened to your sat dish or cabling??
Apart from that, nothing stands out

Hiya,

No changes in cabling - and not using sat dish.

Hiya,

No changes in cabling - and not using sat dish.

so is it cable? because you appear to be using Oscam and a card and something is not tuning

Hmm not sure really - the cable from antenna is connected to the Solo 4K, and from there onwards to the TV as well. TV will show the channels fine (there has been some issues in the video quality however, I wonder if the quality of TV channel is poor, it might cause the issues for the Solo 4K)?

As an improvement to the software - say the picture quality is very poor and limited (the quality and signal seems to be now very weak indeed, where I live), it should not prevent the use of the device in my opinion. Access to the software should be there, so I can trigger fetching of the channels right?

The software will be there already to tune into a signal from your aerial (antenna) but if there is no signal (or a very weak signal) then there is nothing to decode. Digital TV is not like the old analogue TV. With analogue the signal could degrade significantly and you could still see a picture even though it was unwatchable. With digital it's all or nothing, when the signal degrades below a certain point the electronics cannot decode it and you get nothing. Often there is no intermediate state - no slightly degraded signal - just nothing. If your TV is tuning in to the signals from the aerial and your box is connected to the same source (aerial) then there is a good chance that the box should be able to do the same.

Have you selected the correct transmitter for your location and is it the same transmitter that your TV is tuning into?
How are you feeding the TV from the same aerial? are you using aerial splitters?
How are you tuning into the broadcast signal? What are your tuner settings and if using AutoBouquetMaker what are those settings?

Is this box new to you and has it been working before? If new and you have not managed to get it to tune are you in the UK and attempting to get Freewview , and in which town do you live?

Q: How are you feeding the TV from the same aerial? are you using aerial splitters?
A: The antenna cable is in VU+'s antenna input (RF IN plug), and tv is receiving its antenna input from VU+ (not using splitter, but the the other RF IN plug)

Q: How are you tuning into the broadcast signal? What are your tuner settings and if using AutoBouquetMaker what are those settings?
A: My ISP (Elisa, here in Finland) is providing the TV channels. Sorry, I cannot tell about my used tuner settings, nor AutoBouquetMaker - because I cannot get the device's GUI been shown. If you can tell the names (related to tuner settings), I can dig em up via ftp (download them) or use dreamboxedit software

Q: Is this box new to you and has it been working before? If new and you have not managed to get it to tune are you in the UK and attempting to get Freewview , and in which town do you live?
A: This box is few years old, its from *******.fi (here in Finland). Box has been working fine, I was able to check the channels properly last time yesterday. Using the box here in Finland (not in UK).

If you can't see menu items on your TV and don't see the boot screen etc I would first check the HDMI cable from your Vu Box to your TV

Update on this: as of today I was able to now get to the menues of the enimga2 - the signal quality and strength was recovered at late night yesterday. Once I woke up today, I was happily surprised to see once again responding box :)
