View Full Version : [VU+ Ultimo4K] Problem with file player
Have just built and installed the new 6.2.001 (DEV) image on my Ultimo4k. When using the media player to play a recording, using any of the skip forward or back buttons (1,3,4,6,7,9 or the FF or REW, the box crashes. I've attached the crash log, looks like a problem with libc.so.6

I'm having no problems on the same box running 6.2.001.002, using the standard player via movielist.
Are you using the mediaplayer plugin?
No, that was a straight flash, no restore and nothing added. I'll try building the 6.2.001.002 later

So the bug appears to be that the new images don't like to play back recorded streams, the problem also exists on the ZGemma H7

Can you post debug logs with .stream & .ts ?
OK, the 1.log is playing a .ts that didn't crash and the 2.log is playing the .stream that did crash
I restarted the GUI before starting the experiment. This is on a H7 with a full restore
EDIT - Just tried changing the suffix of a recorded off satellite (Channel4HD) .ts to .stream and the stream crashes. I have attached debug logs of these as well. ts.log is the file named as the default .ts and the stream.log is playing the same file renamed to .stream
So question, I tried recording an IPTV stream last night and I ended up with a .ts flie ... so why do you get stream?
So mine was in a bouquet and I hit record from the grid EPG-------> .ts file
Maybe the debug log around the start of the recording would help me to see why you get .stream.
I have attached the log but have had to obfuscate the IPTV URL details. I do have all IPTV channels set as 4097 service ref rather than 1 as it's proven to be more stable

@ccs - thanks, yep kind of interesting, but not our issue. As lincsat has noted, issue is the change to 4097 to produce a .stream and subsequent playing that stream with the number keys.

Did you get anywhere with this mate? I tried a new build and still the same issue
As an update, I compiled an OpenATV dev image and it plays stream files OK
@Lincsat - so rerigged everything to produce Bouquets with 4097.
Recorded a stream
Played back that stream skipping backwards and forwards - no issues.
BUT initially I had serviceapp enabled and I had issues.
Disabled serviceapp, no problems.
So if you don't have Serviceapp or similar installed, post me a stream and I will run on my systems and test again
I have serviceapp installed but playback set to original. I have tried uninstalling the plugin and the issues remain.
I can send you a stream if needed but I have recorded a program from Freesat which records as a .ts file, changed the suffix to .stream and that gives the same issue
I have tried the 6.2.001.002 image on both a VU Ultimo4K and a Zgemma H7 both without any settings restore, just the base image and I get the issue, so can't be anything that I've installed.
If you can't replicate, do you have a 6.2 image for either of those boxes that I can download to rule out a build error
I'm running 6.2.002.007 on an Ultimo4k, I'll give it a go, freeview rather than freesat, though.
The picture freezes after a few seconds, fortunately the stop button returns to movielist ok. I can skip forward after it freezes, the picture pixelates, recovers, and then hangs a few seconds later.

give me a file, if I can break it then it gives me something to work on.
Cannot get a failure on my images but I may (?) have some tweaks in the C++ code on my Git, so a file that breaks for you would be good.

Thanks …. But doesn‘t break. Tried flipping all the keys backwards & forwards -no issues. Plays using servicemp3(which is what you expect for a stream)
This is on a gbue4k, so will try other receivers tomorrow, just to check.
Unfortunately, no vu+ or h7, but a bunch of zgemma and I am sure if its breakable then the sf8008 will manage it, breaks everything else.
I've had a play with serviceapp and setting playback with GSTplayer, the stream plays but pressing 1,3 etc returns to movie list. Using Exteplayer3, the stream doesn't play at all but doesn't crash.
I don't have any other recent boxes to try but may have a clone Vu+ Solo2 to try
@ccs or anyone else with an Ultimo4K or Zgemma H7 image, can you let me have a copy to try

I cant get the file to crash on my H7 using the default media player (thats all I ever use). I'm able to skip backwards and forwards without issue. Rewind doesn't work on this file though.

Maybe. However, it is 2 minute recording. Button 1 and 3's default option are 15 seconds.

OK, a development. The 6.2.001.004 dev image image from ronand seems to work. as others have noted, the standard REW doesn't work although the x2, x4 etc appears on the GUI. The Skip forward button starts FF rather than skipping forward to the next marker but that's not a problem as the 1,3 etc do work where my 6.2.001.004 build did not work. The progress bar on the screen doesn't look right, seems to lag a long way behind the progress of the file, again not a problem
Could it be something in Ubuntu that caused that? I'm currently upgrading to the 22.04 LTS and will build new images later to see if I can get one that works
I've now built 6.2.001.009 with the Ubuntu 22.04LTE and it's stepping forward and backwards OK, so that bug is fixed. Still not rewinding as others had noted.

So go into menu/setup/recordings and set it to record 4097 as service type 1, thats one of the reasons we added this feature.
