View Full Version : [VU+ Ultimo4K] openvix 6 0 001 - settings backup doesn't install
I flashed my Vu+Ultimo4k with new upgrade image 6.0.001. That worked but when I tried to install the settings backup from previous version 5.4.016 it gave an error: time exceeded. Then I flashed back to 5.4.016 - settings backup istall failed again with the same error.
What has happened?
Only seen this new version now but is it a new build and needs to setup from scratch as not seeing any posts about new image and whats needed.

I know it doesn't help you but I've just installed 6.0.001 on my Xtrend ET10000 and the settings and plugin backups worked OK
Update via menu -> setup -> VIX -> Image manager.
Settings previosly backed up from 5.4.016 via menu -> setup -> VIX -> Backup manager.
Can you use an older backup as i know previous one and current one are giving issues and not got to fix my 10000 yet
I managed to reinstall flashing 5.4.016 with settings. It seems that enigma2 plugins give the error. After installing my favourite plugin skin BMC1080Confluence everything seems to be as before. It is better not to install 6.0.001 before some more instructions.

So which plugins are you trying to download?
Maybe you can post your settings backup here so we can see what its trying to download?

Same version of Foreca works fine in Ultimo4K and Uno4K SE and image is 6.0 001 in all boxes.

It really doesn‘t like whats in the file for that City/location……….. the code is the same for all 3 boxes……… where are the files created/modified?
/etc/enigma2/Foreca/City.cfg was corrupted for some reason. I copied the file from Ultimo4K and now it works.

Image 6.0.001 keeps my Zgemma H9S box crashing, reverted back to 5.4.016 My H7S works very well with 6.0.001.
I have not set them up. i must have deleted them and then reflashed the box?
They're in /home/root/logs by default.

I would rather avoid starting from the scratch. I had no peculiar plugins except ymod oscam inactivated. I have removed all those files. That might have caused the error. I wonder if my skin is too much for 6.0.001?

with a collection of 28546 picons 1 Kb each included in my backup. No memory overflow even close. Could that be a problem?

My conclusion is that local extensions not included in the standard extension list are tough bites för 6.0.001. These could be excluded from the settings backup. I have not tried that yet.

@rte is correct, if its not in the normal downloads in plugins then its likely to have issues with python3.(OpenViX 6.0 or OpenATV 7.0)

somewhere you have a url to the web site and userid & password - you can use that on most IPTV plugins e.g. IPTV Bouquet Maker

I have finally made it. Thank you for the instructions. I moved my picon directory from root to hdd (SSD) and cleaned my backup selection. No suspicous extensions left. Then I flashed to 6.0.001 smoothly without any remarks. To my surprise, the picons are picked up from my SSD-directory now. I only had to install my favourite skin and everything seems to be perfect now.

Changed my mind, version 6.0.001 still causing problems.
Updated Jedimaker channels to echannelizer, edited channels sent to box, box won't boot up, reflashed and reverted to 5.16.

Next time:
log into the box with putty ...
type init 4 (space between)
type enigma2
look at log on screen and see if there is an errror/failure

I am guessing flash is full for some reason - I have seen that when somebody has stored loads of bouquets etc

Hi, HDD about 100 gb of films and tv series, Jedi with 92 bouquets (80000+ channels) plus about 20 extra bouquets made up of fav channels of a mixture from jedi (eg my list of fav sports in one bouquet and a mirror bouquet of SLY UK channels , 1= bbc1, 6 = Sly Shows, 44 = quester etc)

No room left on device usually applies to the internal flash memory. Box should not crash at E2 startup if the HDD is full. Please uplad teh crashlog, you should still be able to connect to box even if e2 has stalled. Issue an "init 4" command to stop the restarts if you want. If you cannot get the crash logs, star Enigma2 in console mode (as mentioned above) and attach the log here. Check for usernames/password in log first.

Hi Twol, in view of your comments, I raised a ticket on Xtream Editor's support pages asking if they intended to develop thei Plugin for Python 3 and this it what I received back
"As soon as all the dependencies like python-sqlite etc. are available, we will also update our plugin" I am no expert but it looks promising, can you give me your take on what this actually mean.......Spevs

Not being an expert I googled and it said:
SQLite is a self-contained, file-based SQL database. SQLite comes bundled with Python and can be used in any of your Python applications without having to install any additional software.
In this tutorial, we’ll go through the sqlite3 module in Python 3. We’ll create a connection to a SQLite database, add a table to that database, insert data into that table, and read and modify data in that table.
So they should be able to do it..
THe box seems OK now with 6.0.001.

Why are you using flashexpander??? Much better to use the ability to move the root to the mmc sdcard then your flash is as large as the sdcard
Flashexpander could also be causing the assert error on the fd.(your crash) in python2 assert errors were ignored, not in python3
You will find the option to use the sdcard in the ViX plugin H9sdManager

You us the H9SDManager to format the card and copy root to sd card and then long press Power and select H9swap to reboot to using the sdcard.(or swap back)

So i used theH9SDmanager this morning on my H9S.
Once you hit the Green button (initialise SD card) it takes about 5 minutes or so to initialise the card(depending on the mmc card technology/speed) and then copy the devices root to the card.
The pictures show the status after the initial reboot, followed by restart using the sd card.
Things to remember:
1) when you initialise the card, the task is not completed until the original screen is shown e.g. you see Superblocks ... done, but then it takes about 4 minutes more to copy the root files
2) then hit Red button reboot.......this ensure sd card is mounted correctly
3) After reboot, hard press Power button, and select H9SDroot ---> select swap to SD
As the pictures show, works perfectly for me, BUT ... make sure that hacks like Flash Expander are not installed
Couple of questions
1. Is it possible to have an option to reduce the size of picon in channel list (similar to OpenATV)?
2. Is it possible to sort/rearrange menu items in main menu according to preference?

Could be, with many of the older boxes there was no choice
I had a go, all seemed OK unit I tried to install 6.0.001 and the box froze again.

I assume something in your settings backup - try flash without restoring settings and then set password.
If that works try to restore settings from settings backup using ViX BackupManager or jut set the box up manually

so I said the new image is without adjustment. Here I am now from the box download v6.0.002 and rewritten and now it works to change the pass
I've had similar problems where the partition becomes unwriteable on the SF8008 and the only solution is to flash the recovery image and start again.

Hi Huevos, as I said I am no expert, but I suspected someone in the know would tell me this has been around for years. On a positive note at least the people behind XE now know that XE3.0.9 will not work with Vix 6 and they will need to modify it for future builds.....Spevs

Hi All, some great news "Xtream Editor" has been modified to work on Python 3, I installed 3.1.1 last night via Putty and it runs fine, also previous settings from 5.0.16 have all come across during the upgrade to 6.0.001................:thumbsup:
