Is anyone else seeing problems wih IMDb?
I'm always getting the "title menu" page which suggests an OK internet connection to IMDb but when requesting the details of the selected film I'm always getting "No details found" "IMDb Re-Download complete". This failure to get details has been for at least the past 7 days with 5.4.13 and the previous version.

Me too, all my searches have come back with 'no details found' lately.
Didn't think any more about it as I don't use it very often.
This is even happening on a box running 5.2.045 so assumed it was the other end.

The python3 error will have to be looked at..
The http links in my debug logs certainly work ok.
There have been major changes to the imdb site recently so I'm not surprised the plugin isn't working

The py3 error is fixed (on my git) but the way this plugin searches the html no longer works - so I guess its changed on the web site
Hi,
I checked yesterday with the standard py2 image and IMDB gets results for me. Problem is not for much content but it succeeded for Start Treck. So basically it is not completely without function.
btw. I use the FNC version from the pli board which is much better in my eyes.

As usual stop receiver, copy the attachment to /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/IMDb & reboot.

Looks ok as well on 5.5.013.016 (Py3).

did you use enigma2-plugin-extensions-imdb-fnc. I think it is a fantastic plugin for mipsel and ARM. By far better than IMDB or OFDB.

Seen that, I think its trying to download a jpg from the WEB (for a poster image) and being blocked——- I will have a look but wanted to check out it was working before doing more

Also: There used to be a review of the film which is now missing. However the quality of the review was often somewhat random, perhaps because a randon single review was selected from a long list.

RalfOpen source isn't about having to ask people. It should be there for everyone to see. And, if it is not, it is breaking the terms of the original license.

Could be, I'm seeing reviews using a recent 5.5.014.013 release , but the 5.4.013 (June 24th) release gives limited details.

There are some skin related changes to dig out as well.
OK, will wait for the latest and greatest. The review stars show up fine. The Top Review does not. The buttons still do not show, but work fine when pressed. The other thing, which was always a problem with Simple_Ten_Eighty, is the layout of the imdb details on the right of the screen is overlapped by the picture on the left. So, the text is not always readable, as the left edge of the text is covered up.

There used to be one user review of the film but I'm sure it wasn't the "top review" , just a random user review. Sometimes the reviewer was so far up his own a**e that he wrote at length about the history of the actor, director, lighting cameraman etc. without mentioning the actual film and it was the worst every made :)
Heh! Yes, some reviews do go way off-piste. Most of them can be quite useful in determining a film is worth recording/watching or not. This is especially true when the Storyline section of the imdb summary is too vague. I don't really know if the reviewer comments are selected at random, if it is the top review, or if it is the latest review posted on imdb. In any case, the review which used to be displayed by the plugin was from the section titled "User reviews". The Top Review seems to be the one displayed on the imdb main page. The current version of Simple_Ten_Eighty stops displaying just above the review section. Anyway, glad to see the plugin is working again and I'll see how it works with the next OpenVIX release.

I'm sure there's an easier way, but click on the three dots on the rhs, click view file, click raw, and then right click on the page to download (save as).
Was able to make it working :-) Just copied the content and with BBEedit saved the file plugin.py. Thanks guys!!! Finally IMDb works again. Another issue is the TMDB plugin not working completely for ViX.
As I don't understand the above explanations and I therefore cannot fix it, I hope this issue will be fixed in the next build of Openvix

I have now done just that. When I saved the file to my harddisk the extension was already .py, not .txt. The receiver now finds the movie, but when I push the yellow button for details I still get the 308 Permanent Redirect error.

You now need to reboot your box. On reboot the box will compile the .py file to a .pyo file (over writting the previous .pyo file). Once working go back in and delete the .py file (leave the .pyo file alone).

I have latest OpenVIX image on VU+Solo2, but when I view the details in IMDb plugin, I have error "IMDb Download failed: Connection to the other side was lost in a non-clean fashion: Connection lost." I try to change plugin.py, but no result.
The instructions earlier in this thread no longer apply, IMDb should work (it does for me) on the latest ViX image without any changes.

This was fixed in either 6.0.006 or 6.0.007 -- which version are you using?
The temporary fix earlier in this thread mentioned a change in a file BUT this must be followed by a reboot of the box. The boxes have an inbuilt python compiler which compiles .py files when the box is rebooted.
IMDb on Solo2 with 007 version is not working, the error is in plugin.py, because when I try different versions of the file, the text of the error changes.

Selecting a film in the EPG and pressing red for IMDb gives a list of possible film titles/dates but then selecting one of them always gives “no details found”.
Yep - confirmed. I'm getting the same on my Quad Plus. It was working yesterday, so it may be some change in IMDB. I checked the log and the plugin is formatting the http request apparently correctly (works in a PC browser), but maybe the reply format is not what is expected?

I just upgraded a SOLO2 to Open VIX 6.0.008, but getting the error "IMDb Download failed: Connection to the other side was lost in a non-clean ..." I uninstalled the IMDB extension and reinstall but same. also did as previously on my reply on post 73 but still getting the same eror.
Any ideas?

Renamed the existing plugin file in /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/IMDb
Uploaded the new file to the same location
Rebooted box and IMDb worked again.

No, because they are different builds. Just download in ImageManager and then flash and restore.
Anyone else on VU+ Solo 2 with issues downloading 6.1 from the Image Manager? when I go to download I get message with Failed and sometime it just say Waiting, I leave it for 30min but not change it shows as Waiting,

I assume if I download the version from the web I can only install it using USB, if I copy it to /media/hdd/ would that work same as downloaded from image manager or fail?
If it says "waiting" that means you have something else in the job queue. Try rebooting. Or you can download and send to the box by FTP. Or you can flash from USB.

I think the issue is the 1st time I try to download it say Fail, if I try again I get the Waiting error, the only way to stop that is to switch off the box from the switch on the back.
If moving the file downloaded from the web works to do the install directly form the box I will try that.
Got the same on a solo2 but not my other boxes. I just usb flashed and set up from scratch.
