Morning all,

as per the header, my mates just dropped his Duo off which fails to boot and sits with the spinner indefinitely.

rather than me flash the latest image and set it all up from scratch, is it possible to somehow use a full image backup from my Solo 2, modify it in some way to make it useable to flash his Duo?

this would save me a few hours and i could put my feet up :p

Ta

Having just seen the Duo only supports up to 5.2.045 i guess that'll be a NO!!

Thanks anyway

Being an old Duo, I would check for bulging capacitors on the main board if I were you. This is an extremely common fault and you may just be in the pre "red light of death" mode with it.

There are two types of backups:-

Image backup
Settings backup

You cannot flash the image of one receiver onto a different model of receiver. You can however restore a settings backup onto a different receiver. You will have to make sure that the tuner configuration is correct afterwards and also change the hostname.

However, I think better to get a newer receiver.

Definitely tell him to buy a new box and not to be wasting his time and yours.

4K Twin Sat tuners and faster than your solo2 for 66 quid

Did he not say his box was the DUO which is an old slow box.

Nothing wrong with a solo2 great box but i might have gone for the zgemma h7s instead.

I was just making a comparison. Even the solo2 seems slow compared to the new boxes
