View Full Version : H9S usb 3.0 port problem Zgemma h9s USB3.0 port not reading 3.0usb drives
Hi all!
I have H9s with usb 3.0 port and USB 3.0 port does not work with any USB 3.0 HDD/ flash drive, it only reads USB 2.0 drive in 3.0 port
When I insert usb 3.0 HDD/ flash drive in USB 2.0 port, it read it ok.
Look like there is driver issue.
Please can you help to fix this issue. I have tried vix 5.2, 5.3 and 5.4 though none of these are recognising usb 3.0 in 3.0port.
Thank you.

Is that one of the new spec boxes?? .. or direct from Zgemma ? Mine and I am guessing most European supplied don‘t have a usb3.0.
This is the WoS spec....

Does he have the Zgemma H7 model that does have that 3.0 port?
Does he have the Zgemma H7 model that does have that 3.0 port?
Have a look at post #3.
My previous post this afternoon vanished and asked might it have been a H7 model as we do mix up posts and boxes:D
Now later i see an added description.

What colour is the inards of the usb port?
USB 2.0 ports and plugs can be white or black.
USB 3.0 ports and plugs are blue.
USB 3.1 ports and plugs are teal blue
Amazon used to sell them starting about 18 months ago...

Yes this is the one I have and it does have both usb3.0 (blue) and usb 2.0(white under ethernet jack)
It looks like the newer model has replaced usb 3.0 with wifi, maybe the latest image reflects this?
This is similar to zgemma h9t but obviously with DVB S2 tuner
Here’s the link to h9t https://www.zgemma.co.uk/zgemmah9t available to buy from zgemma uk store.
I have tried to flash mine with h9t but the issue has not been resolved so it would be driver issue
Whichever h9 model its basically the same build except the se models have different drivers from the non (old) se models
So any possibility to add usb3.0 drivers to it to resolve the issue?
Thank you

The se models appear no different, you seem to have a box that doesn’t fit with those supported by current images
It was reported some time ago on another image.

Rather an abrupt ending.
I know this is OpenVIX forum and I did some research on different OpenATV images and found that my usb3.0 drives are working fine only in below openatv 6.1 image
http://images.mynonpublic.com/openatv/6.1/index.php?open=zgemmah9s
So would it be possible to add usb drivers on Open Vix 5.4 image for Zgemma9s as I would really like to stay with Openvix.

both OpenATV and OpenViX use the same "core" (the OE-A) to build images, so if you went back far enough I am sure that OpenViX would also support usb 3.0 (e.g OpenViX 5.1 or 5.0) but it is extremely difficult to retrofit old drivers to a new image especially where the linux kenel has changed. I am afraid your issue is not with the images but Zgemma and their current drivers.

I have contacted Zgemma for this since a month now and they are just keep telling they will come back to me. They are useless.

Have you tried getting any email answers in a timely manner from ANY organisation during the pandemic? Often phones are no longer answered within an hour and automated email messages are warning of lengthy delays for a response from a human.
Most of the box manufacturers seem to offer the same (lack of) responses.
i got the old zgemma with usb 3.0 as well, and it works with everything, maybe u should install usb drivers from the feed
