View Full Version : Can't mount network share

Any ideas why I can't mount a network share?

I have tried to mount shares from a PC and from a NAS but neither works. The mount points show as being enabled but there is a cross in the left hand column, which I assume means it's not mounted.

If I try to mount manually from the command line, I get the message that permission is denied for mountpoint.

I can mount the shares just fine from this linux laptop, so I'm happy that I have the correct settings.

Any thoughts?

What image are you using?

Can you post you mount settings please or take a screenshot of them using the webinterface.

I knew I would forget to mention the image :(
it's Dream Elite 1.3.2.

Currently on the ferry for a trip to the UK but I'll try a screenshot tomorrow night.

Also make sure your firewall is allowing sharing.I tried to share for 6 months only to find(with the help of Sic.lol) I had committed a schoolboy error in not configuring my firewall correctly.

OK, just spent some time trying again, without success.

Here are the pics of my settings

The first one isn't too great, but the icon on the left has a little cross.

I couldn't find any reference to mount points in the web interface.

I did read the post mentioned above but the problem there is different as I know I can mount the share from other devices.

Solved :)

I downloaded the forum branded image and all now works perfectly.

I've found the easiest way to mount a network share is through the wizard http://www.vuplus-support.co.uk/showthread.php?566-Stream-movies-from-pc-to-VU-DUO&p=2724&viewfull=1#post2724 Other images its easy enough just to use the mount manager.

You're absolutely right and that's what I was trying to do and it just wouldn't work on BH 1.3.2.

I don't know if something went wrong with permissions during the image install but the mount just failed to actually mount.

Anyway, it's history now and, today, I have full access to all of my shares :)
