Hi all,
Simple question really.
Can you play a 4k ip stream through the VU+ DUO2?
Would it/should it just downscale and play or not?

Thanks guys. I figured that it's a bit long in the tooth now, just like me [emoji69].
Any suggestions as to what to replace it with?
Looking for much the same functionality: multiple sat and terrestrial receiver slots, hdd slot for recording, Gb ethernet plus capability to stream modern streams from the likes of sky, amazon, Netflix etc. Preferably Linux or android base.

My uno4k plays 4k streams although I don't have a 4k TV. It must downscale the stream for me but I don't know how it does that tbh

Its a 4k receiver so it can play a 4k stream (depending on codec etc). The box outputs in the resolution you have specified (1080i/p). The Duo2 is only a HD receiver with no hardware support for 4k. In enigma2 receivers the decoding is done by the chipset - its not something you can add on with software afterwards.

Hi,

plus capability to stream modern streams from the likes of sky, amazon, Netflix etc. Preferably Linux or android base.

this is a problem for most E2 STBs as they are DRM protected. I do not know a direct solution but with Kodi something is possible but can change any time. If streaming from the big players is really important look or keep a simple E2 STB and add and Android streaming device which supports all your wishes.

Thanks for that Trial, I was trying to minimise my box count [emoji4] but fear you may be right.
