Hi all

i currently have a zgemma h7s, i only bought it to see if we could survive without paid tv( we can) but wondering should i upgrade to a vu+ box?

I need a dvb-t2 tuner as well as the satellite ones (for saorview in ireland). Which boxes can meet that requirement and would i see any benefits?

Currently only the VU+ Ultimo 4K would give you more tuners.

Hi cyrusir,

I am based in the RoI and have used the Solo4k for a number of years now. Support for the DVB-T/T2 is rock solid (unlike my previous box, the Solo 2 + USB dongle for DVB-T/T2 which required periodic reboots). It also provides seamless integration with other contents - I have feeds for both 28E and 19E. I recommend upgrading to FBC if you have not done so already.

I cannot comment on the benefits over the zgemma h7s though. The vu+ is really fast, possibly one of the fastest boxes at its launch. Not sure this is still the case now though, others manufacturers may have caught up.

Good luck,
Mr D.

@cyrusir - you don't specifically need DVB-T2 for Saorview. Standard DVB-T is what is used, but probably most tuners now support T2 also. Just so you are fully informed :)

Thanks . So is the saorview tuner a usb add on for the boxes that don’t have a slot for an extra tuner ?

What I’m wondering is can I get a Vu+ uno 4K and still have sat and saorview ?

Also what’s fbc ?

Thanks

Some receivers have tuner slots on circuit board to allow you to choosse whether you use a satellite or terrestrial/cable tuner. Others do not.

If you get an Uno 4K, it has one pluggable slot for tuners on circuit board. If you get a pluggable Satellite tuner, you will have to use a USB tuner for Terrestrial services (saorview), they are relatively cheap. If you get a pluggable Terrestrial tuner for (saorview), you will have to get a USB tuner for Satellite services. They are not cheap.
