Sly q box

I run a solo vu2 but purchased a sky q box just to use
In a spare room the lnb is hybrid but it does not appear to be like a hd box
Can i not receive free channels
If this is the case is it of no use unless you subscribe

A Sky Q box needs a wideband LNB to work.

I thought you couldn't own a Sky Q box, it was on loan and had to be returned if you cancel your subscription with them.

I wonder why Sky chose wideband LNBs for their new boxes rather than Unicable.
For simpler distribution systems maybe?
