Hi
I have a VU+ DUO Box with old openvix image 52.029 installed. I want to remove this old image and re-install with
openATV image because openvix does not support this box. I have tried to do factory reset to override the image still the
image is there. Please can someone point me to the right procedure to follow and reset the box to factory settings.

All that factory settings does is delete the settings file, leaving the image as is. Reflashing starts the box from scratch. The hdd is untouched.

You need to go onto the OpenATV website and download the image for your receiver.

Format your USB stick with BootIce (http://www.willobuild.net/files/Utilities/Preparing%20Flash%20Drives.zip)

You could always use Image manager in ViX to download and flash OpenATV.

Actually, that feature may not be available in 5.2.029.

... if you can't get usb flashing to work, you could still flash the latest ViX image first using Image manager, and then get to OpenATV from there.

The Duo is no longer supported by ViX.

5.2.045 is the last image for it.

The OP is best using the Duo as a doorstop and buying a newer generation box.

Moved to the Vu+ Duo section now. [emoji4]

Option 1.
Flash by command line using Grog's script

wget --no-check-certificate -O installatv.sh https://www.dropbox.com/s/nqbo698rxconave/installatv.sh?dl=1 && bash installatv.sh

Option 2
Flash using Image Manager. Process is as below

Download image file to PC. Link to OpenATV images below

http://images.mynonpublic.com/openatv/current/index.php

No need to unzip image file. Transfer zipped image to mountpoint /media/hdd/imagebackups (this is a mountpoint, it does not matter if it is a USB drive or mechanical HDD)
Blue > Vix > Image Manager > Blue (Flash/restore)
