Hi all,
What steps/files are required to set up Openvix 5.3.028 for using 27.5w ?
cheers

Same as OpenPli .... the thread you posted in is probably “the“ source - so what is your actual question, as if I read your OpenPli post correctly you had it working?

Yes I did and that post was sometime back, anyhow, I updated the openpli 7.2 today and for whatever reason all the channels on 27.5 would not open and then oscam.emu would not work.
Not succeeding in fixing it I thought meantime why not try another image, which brought me to my original question.

1) did you scan 27.5W and break the changes to the lamedb??
2) you don‘t need oscam emu - on ViX oscamlatest is fine.
3) what files are you currently using?
Important that the lamedb is obviously set up for 27.5W, but I use a very bog standard oscam.conf, oscam.server set up as a BISS reader

[reader]
label=BISS
protocol=constcw
device=/etc/tuxbox/config/constant.cw
caid=2600
group=1

And a file constant.cw containing the transponders etc

Thanks for the quick reply,
1 I did scan 27.5w but did not realise there were any changes to be made
2 this was another thing that threw me, in openpli oscam has the constant cw already in it
3 just the lamedb and keys files

and now that I am trying to check the above with DCC I find that the Multiboot is not allowing me access to the zgemma! what a fun day!

Morning,
as I told you yesterday since using the Multiboot for Pli and Vix I have lost access to the zgemma h9 twin when using DCC (had no problem previously) I have attached a screen shot from DCC, have you had this problem? or know how I can reset it?

I am sure its not a multiboot issue - goes nowhere near network.... there are/have been issues with DCC and getting a version that works with OE-A images see https://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?10166-DCC-E2-(-Dreambox-Control-Centre)
or: better still use Putty

Thanks I shall try both of those, If you look at the pic at the bottom box there is mention of a TBS server, I get this when connecting to the Zgemma via a crossover cable, no router.any idea why this should be?

Sorry, never used the DCC package - no idea.

Is this an ethernet crossover cable? If so, how are you allocating IP addresses to the Zgemma and the (I assume) PC? I'm just wondering if this is a simple failure to connect? Using a router with DHCP is probably the most reliable way of connecting. You can either fix address reservations in the router or assign specific addresses in both devices ensuring they are in the same subnet.

Yes it is an ethernet cable, which had worked fine with DCC until I installed another image via the zgemma multi boot system, now the same program and cable wont connect or recognise the box.

It's likely that the new image has no IP address, then. You need to connect the zgemma to a router in order to obtain an IP address. Then you can connect to it from the PC, either via the router or subsequently directly using a crossover cable (although most ethernet ports will handle a straight or crossover cable).

Hi,
Update, I have all channels back but no sound, could I ask you for a copy of your working lamdb file or what do I need to insert in my own?
cheers

Sound is nothing to do with lamdb file. Remote not on Mute? Remote not on 0% volume?

A simple Reboot of the receiver via the Menu may solve it?

Say what? Did my suggestion allow your PC to connect to the zgemma?

So what did you do to cause this? You need to communicate what you are doing/have done - otherwise you generate loads of responses from people trying to help you - just shipping a copy of the lamedb may or may not help you.

Sort of, as per your suggestion I double checked that both images had functioning network, once that was done I tried connecting with DCC again and it worked!

v12nut
14-05-20, 22:25
Take your point, basically all I have done is take the comments given by yourself and fat tony, checked and double checked, turns out there was no network set up on both the images I have on the box which when I sorted out the ip address I could then communicate with the box and and install keys and lamebd files, so now I have picture on the OpenPli but not on opevix yet, however no sound, and thats it to date

So, thanks for pointing you in the right direction as regards network connectivity, perhaps? Now, 27.5W decryption is above my pay grade, so @twol may be able to point you in the right direction. If you are getting picture, but no sound it would strike me that you are not using the correct PID values for the sound carrier. Maybe look in that area?

so your entries should look something like this ..(More4/Film4 no longer exists)
Use Notepad++ on Windows or Linux to modify the lamedb ... NOT a standard editor

Thanks for that,

I installed oscam and oscam emu from the Vix plugin menu, it said they had installed but when I checked ect\tuxbox\config no oscam dir was there! does vix put them elsewhere?

so I took the oscam emu files from the openpli image pasted them into vixtuxbox\config with my original lamedb file and now there is picture but no sound.

then I tried only the line for bbc news from your posted lamedb in my lamedb but still no sound. and that is todays progress.

1. delete the openpli oscam - I assume you manually installed? If so you will have to manually remove and make sure its completely gone, otherwise it could mess things up - see so many issues where people grab an ipk and install. OpenViX uses a softcam manager not a script to start/stop
2. Then download from the feeds oscam latest and install your config files (cannot remember if it creates config or not)
You only need oscam latest - installing multiple oscams is just confusion: check softcam manager for status (blue button- select softcam manager) it needs to be started in the manager - this is not OpenPli! If you still only get video, re -check lamedb entries against mine..... also check your keys, although if you get video that sounds OK

so your entries should look something like this ..(More4/Film4 no longer exists)
Use Notepad++ on Windows or Linux to modify the lamedb ... NOT a standard editor

Twol. I notice your lamedb entries end with "f:400,f:05" mine just end with "f:4" and I need to have entries in my dvbapi file. With your lamedb file do you need a dvbapi file?

No I installed ocam latest and emu via the vix plugin menu, but when I checked etc\tuxbox\config there was no oscam dir, so they do not create config files. hoe are those created?

You only need Oscam-emu and this should create a config folder in etc/tuxbox with an oscam server file containing an emulator reader. Place your Softcam.key file in the config folder also.

No he doesn't need oscam-emu, oscam-latest is fine - I use it all the time - because of my location this is my main Sat input.

If it doesn't create then just create it! ... and copy your files over... see PM I have sent to you

Ok - but, for the benefit of other users, we should determine what the resolution was in regard to your no sound issue. It's a bit like confirming why you couldn't initially connect your PC to the box. @twol - do you think it was the lamedb content or some other issue?

I really would like to be able to say exactly what caused/repaired the problem, more because if it ever happened again in the future I would know what to do! I suspect it was a Lamedb issue as this was the one file I edited a few times with various settings I was given, however having said that the OpenPli image on the box is working with the Original lamedb file! is it possible just switching the box of and on a few times simply 'kickstarted' it ?
