Hi all,

I had a notification to upgrade, after restarting the box, it was on, but couldn't get a menu up. rebooted half a dozen times - without success!

So as I had some other images on, I went to reboot into another image - but i had no menu.

So I had a stupid brain fart - I would change the boot startup folder to say OpenATV. So I edited the startup file - Copied START_2 to START

boot emmcflash0.linuxkernel2 'brcm_cma=440M@328M brcm_cma=192M@768M root=/dev/mmcblk0p8 rootsubdir=linuxrootfs2 kernel=/dev/mmcblk0p4 rw rootwait h7_4.boxmode=1'

I then rebooted and NOTHING. All it was showing was BOOT
So I got a USB out and copied the zgemma folder onto the USB - Held in pushbutton - BOOT - that was all!! Arrhhhhhh!!
Tried 3 more different USB - all the same - NOTHING
Tried reformatting USBs with windows then Partition Wizard - NOTHING!
Tried OpenATV, Vix, Pure2 - NOTHING WORKS!!!! ARRRRRHHHHH!!

Been at this for over a week!

Can anyone help and advise please
Thanks

Some changes have happened to the recovery emmc part. Image & recovery emmc files here >> https://www.openvix.co.uk/index.php/downloads/zgemma-images/zgemma-h7/

Read this thread which will help you I think >> How to USB flash New Multi-boot recovery menu and Image - New procedure 21/04/2020

So I assume you actually had an image installed in slot 2??? which is where it was booting.

Yes twol (https://www.world-of-satellite.com/member.php?26841-twol) Thanks

Andy_Hazza (https://www.world-of-satellite.com/member.php?36150-Andy_Hazza) Thanks for the reply and information

I have literally tried everything and was contemplating trashing it and buying another ZG H7c:mad::mad:

But I have been searching everywhere (as just changing 3 things in that START file has damaged it beyond repair?!!) Crazy

Anyway I ran up against this - http://www.pur-e2.club/OU/images/index.php?dir=6.2/airdigital/H7-2partitions/
Yes Yes I know it is Pur-e2 - but soon as I put this on the USB into the H7 - off it went and chopped the 4 image slots into 2!:thumbsup:

Absolutely brilliant guys, what a lifesaver:):)

Guys once again for your help:wave:

Unless PureE2 have done something really stupid, you should be able to use FlashOnline to flash a OpenViX image into the second slot and it should recognise that there are only 2 slots to play with.

Dont forget, I was running nothing and could get nothing mate!!
They fortunately had this to put onto a USB and load it on my system! As everything had failed (on all systems to run any package!!)

Cheers

Yes, I realise that, but all I am saying is that you now should be able to flash ViX from PureE2 into a slot.

Hello

I seem to have the same problem as the OP in this thread. I just started using my ZGemma H7S yesterday. It came from WOS with OpenATV 6.4 installed. I wanted to try OpenATV 6.3 so downloaded it from the Software Manager menu and put it in (I think?) slot 2 and then asked it to boot into that and copy over the settings from OpenATV 6.4. However after restarting I juts have a black screen on the TV. It doesn't seem to boot up. I tried putting OpenATV 6.3 image files in a folder called 'zgemma' on a fat32 formatted usb key in the back of the box. As soon as I power it on I press the power button on the front of the box and I think it's supposed to cycle through boot, usb, flash (https://wiki.openpli.org/Zgemma). I see flash appear and disappear in about half a second so I don't know when to release the power button to start flashing the image then it gets stuck on "BOOT" on the LED screen and nothing else happens.

How can I get my box to boot an image again?

Cheers,

Flex

Hi guys old thread I know, but this multiboot recovery sounds like it can be incredibly useful in bad situations, can I ask why the H9 multi boot recovery is available but the H7 is restricted to a hidden dev area?

Thanks.

The recoverymmc files are on the openvix site for everyone to access.
