Hi guys
I have a Zgemma H7S with a 500GB USB3 external hard drive that worked brilliantly, until we had a power cut the other day, once the power was restored the box will no longer access the hard drive, saying it needs to be initialised first, but that means deleting the content on it. No matter what I try to do the hard drive cannot be accessed. I have for now put another ext drive, USB2, on and initialised it and it works. my question is, is there any way of saving my saved items by getting the box to recognise this drive. Thanks

Peter

I just did google search for ( recover files from hard drive, saying it needs to be initialised first ) seems it is possible various programs out there never checked for ext4 .

Did you try a filecheck? Not sure which image version you are on, but I modified Harddisk recently to correctly use the right filetype when doing a check of the disk.

Once this happened I updated the receiver to the latest version of OpenVix, I did try a filecheck, but it came back "local variable partType referenced before assignment" not sure what to do with that snippet of information

"local variable partType referenced before assignment"
Looks like a problem with a python script somewhere in your box.
Probably worth looking for a way of reporting it to the OpenVIX developers.

Thanks for that - I obviously failed to setup a default filetype - which I guess means that it couldn‘t recognise how the disk was formatted - so bad for you, but good in that I can fix for future use.

Ok, twol, I shall wait with baited breath to see if you can fix this, will it be an easy fix?

I don‘t know if I can fix your HDD - Harddisk is easy change - how was your HDD formatted ext4???

it was formatted by the zgemma receiver, it was a brand new one that I just set to initialise

Is your hdd a usb passport or an externally powered one,on the Initialize bit does it list and show your hdd.

If you go into mounts does it show your hdd saying Type ext4 R/W

I went into storage and initialise, it reports the following , Intenso (SCSI) - External (usb)(500.107GB), i hope that helps, when I went into mount manager it reports the type as unavailable.

Thanks
OK - so start a putty telnet session and enter cat /proc/partitions space between cat and 1st / and post here

After updating to the latest Openvix my Mutant receiver no longer recognize the external harddisk connected to one af the USB sockets on the backside. The harddisk is USB powered and formated NTFS. It has worked without problems a couple of years both for recording and playback.
Now I cannot restore my settings , view my recordings nor record new. What to do?

You will need to install the ntfs plugin to access the drive

Thanks. That helped. Of course I had installed the ntfs plugin initially years ago. Now I wonder why it had not been necessary to reinstall it after all the earlier updates of Openvix I have made through the years.
