Hi,

what would be recommended to use for timeshift? I was thinking as the HDD will be spinning constantly, would it be better to use a thumb drive for timeshift instead of internal HDD? At the moment I use my HDD for recording and timeshift............ not sure whether the strain of always spinning would negatively impact the lifespan of the HDD? Don't think speedwise it would make much difference, just maybe thumb drive might be easier corrupted? Maybe thumb drive would be better to use in conjunction with HDD, one records the other timeshift?? I have no real idea......so am asking.. :-)

Thanks for your input.

Don’t complicate matters, an internal HDD is absolutely fine.

I've had the same 1TB 2.5" drive in my Quad Plus since 2014. Always in timeshift or else recording. No issues - quiet and reliable. As Andy says - don't complicate your setup :)

Same here, I use one HDD in my solo2 where EPG, timeshift, recordings and picons are saved to.

I have to change mine odd time every few years.

As mentioned by Andy why complicate with multiple different storage for different things?
