Seagate 1 gb. Not powered. Unable to do much with it as its locked and regedit does not unlock it.

Usual recommendation is to use powered usb drives.

Totally agree with both Andy and ccs - seen too many issues with non powered usb drives

Maybe better getting SD Card for that model ?

… or maybe a powered usb hub, the OP has already said the 8008 lacked enough usb ports.

...both should work the Sd card is an easy option but for a lot of storage a powered usb device is important.-...... or you could go for a NAS share.

… it's a MicroSD slot, so capacity gets expensive the higher you go.

Well not that expensive (at least here) - but I would still go for a usb HDD as the best solution

Will not initialise get Error. Harddisk instance has no attribute type but it records programs. Must be an hidden partition on the drive preventing it completing initialisation.

maybe download seagate manager and use it to format on your PC. If you buy another drive take WD.Much better in my opinion.

Sorted. Found this on Google.
Format using MiniTool Partition Wizard Free.

1. Connect the drive to Windows
2. Run MiniTool Partition Wizard Free
3. Select the drive and delete partition
4. Create new partition (Create as "Primary" and select File System as EXT4)
5. Click OK and Apply.
Worked a treat.
