Entering text using external USB keyboard is not possible. Even though the layout is language independent (always US, or is it possible to add more layouts?) it's very handy in renaming recordings etc.

Only special keys like backspace, enter etc, work. Letters and numbers do not. Debug log shows that keypress is detected but it is not detected as an input for a character. This used to work with my Duo2 back on 5.1 series images. With duo4k it didn't work with 5.2.045 either.

Log output with a few different letters pressed:

a
< 16702.626> [eInputDeviceInit] 1 1e 1
< 16702.730> [eInputDeviceInit] 0 1e 1

b
< 16703.226> [eInputDeviceInit] 1 30 1
< 16703.386> [eInputDeviceInit] 0 30 1

c
< 16703.782> [eInputDeviceInit] 1 2e 1
< 16703.934> [eInputDeviceInit] 0 2e 1

The above output seems fine, but with properly functioning keys after those lines there should be something like this with backspace:

[eInputDeviceInit] 1 e 1
[InfoBarGenerics] KEY: 14
[ActionMap] Keymap 'VirtualKeyBoardActions' -> Action = 'backspace'

I searched and seems there has been similar issues with a few other boxes but have been fixed in later images...

Not a direct answer but I assume that you have a text key on remote, hit it and bring up virtual keyboard (you can select language - globe)
