Hi All,

I already made a similar post in the Solo2 section without reply, so in case I have posted in the wrong section I am posting here, I apologise in advance if I am wrong to re-post but I am just looking for confirmation if it is my settings or not.

Since updating to Vix 5.3 a few weeks ago media portal will not update, I flashed over the internet (not USB) and restored my settings after the update.

I am now on Vix 5.3.010 but since 5.3.001 if I download Media Portal from the Vix plugins (2019102701)...media portal only worked with some feeds and after I got an online update notification and after installing that update I couldn't open any feeds. BTW I also have MPGZ installed (2019101401)

I have tried downloading and installing media portal from other sources, I have installed using ipk installer and also via telnet, so tried various methods.

I am not sure if it is a my setup because I did an online update and updated my setting after 5.3.001 or a plugin problem, but the next step would be a fresh no settings install, so I am just looking for confirmation that anyone else is having this problem or it is just me.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,
James.

Think you need to post on the mediaportal forum or try with an OpenATV image to see if it runs there as it seems to be used more in the Germanic speaking countries.

I have a suspicion on this. Can you check the error message you get when downloading the mediaport plugin? I assume that this plugin needs opera (like HbbTV). And HbbTV doesn' download either with the 5.3..... releases. So I tried openatv and it worked. Finally I have gone back to 5.2.045 and it also worked.

For me it is obvious that the opera plugin got lost for the VU+ solo2 5.3.... releases. New VU+ receivers have a different processor and don't need opera any longer.

Good luck in trying out

Hi Nekrub2, Thank you for your advice...I don't get an error message although the GUI didn't restart after I updated I needed to do a manual back switch reboot so the plugin could be looking for the HbbTV. I have just looked in the plugins and there is a HbbTV plugin but when I try to install it that gives an vuplus-opera-browser-util error see attachment.

When I get an hour or 2 I will go back to the earlier 5.2.045 as you have done and let you know how I get on.

If that works I might tryout Openatv and see if that suits my needs...like most I am mainly using IPTV so I am not sure how Openatv will affect IPTV.

Thanks for your useful information.
Kind regards,
James.

@ nekrub,

Just a quick update media portal works in 5.2.045 so long as you don't update it.

I did try out Openatv 6.1 and it was fine with IPTV but didn't work with Mediaportal, it is the same as in 5.3 in media portal the feeds can be seen but they won't open and I am not just talking about the adult section but all feeds and there are no crash reports, I have gone back to Vix as it is more user friendly.

What I can't understand is why there are no posts on any VU forums regarding Mediaportal not working so it must be something to do with my setup but why does it work on 5.2.045 and no other newer images I have tried?

I can't be the only VU+solo2 owner that finds media portal interesting:confused:

Kind regards,
James

Hi,
Mediaportal is mainly used in Germany so you will not see so many posts in other boards. I think there is a competitor from Italy which seems more often used in European countries. I use Mediaportal sometimes have have no problems with updates. I do not stream a lot but can you give some examples which streams are not working for you then I can take a look. I am on OpenViX 5.3.

You should try ATV 6.3 ..... and there is a lot of activity on their forum for mediaportal - including the developer

Sorry for not telling you that I was testing on openatv 6.3.1 The look and feel is very close to openvix. As I got used to openvix and know where are which settings I went back to openvix 5.2.045.
Before knowing of mediaportal I used E2iplayer. At least I had there the Swiss and German TV mediaportals.
Good luck

Hi Ralf, Firstly thanks for offering to have a look at this for me, at the moment I have gone back to 5.2.045...because after updating to 5.3.001 Media Portal will not play any feeds/streams even after an online update and even after I had updated the image to 5.3.010 and did a download from the Vix plugins, the date of the working plugin on 5.2 is 2019102701 and I also have MPGZ installed date 2019101401.

Mediaportal even on 5.2.was only working with some feeds/streams but this always happened when the streams needed an online update, but after being offered and installing an update I then couldn't open any feeds on 5.2. either, so although I feel it is a MP problem MP is showing a successful update no crash logs or dependence faults but is still showing the 2019102701 date in in the plugins although it has stopped working.

While writing this post I have just run a test I accepted the online update on the partly working MP and after what appeared to be a clean update I cannot open the streams I could before the update, the streams that I could open before the update were such as XVideos porn and music MTV Germany, so I am thinking that the update is blocking me because of my IP address in the UK. I have now uninstalled MP and restarted the Solo2 and installed MP fresh from the 5.2.045 plugins and those channels are working again although the MP date is now 201906001, so its gone back to a later date.

I had tried a clean completely fresh no plugins or other settings install with both 5.2.045 and 5.3.010 with the same results, and with 5.2 after the MP update nothing works thought it does after deleting and reinstalling the plugin from 5.2 bt doing the same with 5.3 nothing works from the start, so it could be that the developer as made the update country depended, if someone can confirm they have a working and updated-able MP with a UK IP address it would be helpful.

Any input or help would be greatly appreciated and sorry for the long post.

Kind regards,
James.

Try a VPN with it. [emoji4]

Hi Andy, I could try that...I do sometimes use a VPN on XE and that is when my provider tells me I need to to keep the service, so it looks like I will need to download a IPK file because I couldn't see anything in the plugins.

Thanks for your advice.
James.

My problem was partly resolved by a post on the Openatv forum so no credit to me.

My IPTV provider requires me to have serviceapp/exteplayer3 installed on XE and when it is installed it stops the streams on MP playing, going back in serviceapp and changing it back to original and restarting the GUI allows MP content to be streamed, was is strange is the fact that last night I was watching IPTV and could still be able to play MP streams with serviceapp set to original, however overnight I lost the sound on the IPTV channels until I changed the serviceapp back to exteplayer3 and did a full reboot, I am presuming that the overnight loss of sound was because IPTV updated overnight.

I am now on openvix 5.3.011 but I know I could update and use MP in the old 5.2 version without changing serviceapp but after 5.3 something changed, but I am not clever or smart enough to know what is going on and what as changed in MP and/or 5.3.

Although it is not too much trouble to do a full reboot once a day I didn't before 5.3.

Kind regards and thanks for all the help.
James.

Stop using XE ? Change to jedi or E2M3u2bouquet - really straight forward

Stop using XE ? Change to jedi or E2M3u2bouquet - really straight forward

The IPTV provider I have is reliable many are not and although I could ask if I could use another interface I am sure he as already paid for an XE licence as I have paid upfront for the IPTV subscription...so no it isn't really straight forward.

I posted that I had found a solution of sorts to help others that could now or later be in the same situation...but over 12 months ago my provider allowed me to test his service with OpenVix using XE before committing so maybe moving to the latest OpenAtv 6.3 may work better for me, in post 5 I stated I only tested 6.1.

Many thanks for your advice but it took me quite a while to find a reliable IPTV provider so I need to look at other options.

Kind regards,
James.

Providing you have the providers url, your userid and password its a straightforward conversion
