E-sata versus usb powered hdd

I see boxes having e-sata ports and wondered do people use them as i mainly use externally powered hdd,any advantages if just for recording.:wave:

As i have another triple tuner but no room for internal i thought i would ask again cheers.

E-Sata is faster, but just for recording I doubt will be worth the expense of buying an external E-SATA HDD.
