Hi,
at the moment I have the Ultimo4K as my main box but I need (better want) a new toy. I thought about the Duo4K because it might be faster but I would like to have DTS downmix. What is the fastest/best box (with DTS downmix)?

Then you might have to look at the HiSilicon boxes - but that might limit you in terms of connectivity e.g. tuners (number, type)

The SF8008 does DTS-HD Master downmix and even better it does passthrough to the amp too. It also can do TrueHD downmix although it is a bit ropey at the moment (and no passthrough).

Hi,
I am looking for something more in the high end area, internal HDD, more tuner, display, 2 card reader. SF8008 might be a good 2nd box.

Hi,
From what I read in giga-blue board they should have the same DTS/HD sound problems due to BCM like VU. I need downmix not passthrough.

damned, merde, scheiße:-(

Well, it has downmix, force_dts, multichannel options .. anything else you need?
Vix takes from the machines proc,
Images like ATV and their clones just use a predescribed list of options.

If you want me to test let me have a file and I will tell you what it does with it. (All my sat receivers go through Onkyo amps which are pretty good at showing what they see.

Hi,
I read in the gigablue board that the driver have the same problem since half a year or so because of BCM. It seems that all 4K ARM boxes have the same problem.

Test is simple. Enable DTS downmix and listen if you hear something with default E2 player. Any file with DTS/DTS-HD will do as I do not hear anything on all my DTS files.

So interesting!! Downloaded 4 tracks (2 x DTS, 2 xDTS-HD)
Giga4K - sometimes played dts-HD. not dts dts-HD sometimes from start. sometimes from restart (eg stopped after a minute and then you get msg - do you want to resume?)
Zgemma H9 (HiSilicon) - will play all, but sometimes you had to pause and resume to get sound.
Octagon SF8008 - played all. with an occasional few milli second hiccups (but I am getting these on also on eg BBC1 HD(AC3) so think there is an issue with the box.

So HiSilicon is the way to go ... except no high end box at the moment (maybe Zgemma)

Just reran those tracks on my Giga 4K UHD and the dts-hd plays perfectly, but not dts .... the previous test was on the Giga4K UE (which I would expect to be identical .... but obviously is not)

I have the same audio hiccups - possibly hdmi handshaking issues. But the SF8008 has played back almost all audio formats except LPCM so I agree that the HiSilicon boxes seem to be the way forward with a bit of polishing.

Hi,
so it seems there is no really good boy which will play DTS. I think instead of new receiver I buy a soundbase which is able to play the sound. I just tested my Philips PUS6551 which should be able to play DTS(-HD) but perhaps only from internal player not from my STB:-(

Thats why I have a 20 euro android box running librelec kept in a drawer just in case. It plays anything I throw at it - even files with dolby atmos which will cause most stb's to croak - the android box is able to pass through the truehd part of the track which is what I need. But of course it has its problems too - if I turn it off it causes hdmi problems with the rest of the gear.
