Hi i am just north of London, I can get all sats fine but cannot get anything on 4.8, i was under the impression were i am in the uk using usals a 90cm dish i would be able to pick it up ? is there anyway of fine tuning it, i am using cats eye settings and can get sky de sky it nova and so on but when i go to viasat sweden to bbc channel nothing snr goes up and down but only to about 40 max agc around 70 whatever they are ?

its borderline with a 90cm dish, 1 metre dish would definatly get it m8

Try KRT 11766H -------27500
That is the strongest transponder & i have it flying in with a 85cm dish on the south coast
SNR 78%
AGC 73%

i just tried and can get that fine aswell as quite a few others but soon as I go to viasat snr drops away on some channels i get it fine but the sport ones mainly nothing, is it because some are vertical ? the horizontal ones seem better and can get picture some but not others.

I'm getting 51% & 73% on Viasat Xtra PL1 which is on Vertical so there is a big difference. I would think then it is definatley down to your dish size then. Although i have only a 85cm dish this one is usually as good as most 1m.

if memory serves the orbit on 4.8 east is a bit messed up too and that impacts the signal in certain parts. but even i cant get all the TP's from this location using a 1 meter dish in durham.

I am sure a year or so ago with technomate i could get it fine, but now only certain transponders ah well have to miss the everton game tomorrow:(

should I be looking to pull in the viasat extra pl channels with my Frecarro penta 85 in Newcastle? as Im getting KRT no problem at 83% snr with vu duo. However trying to tune 11747.00V yesterday I could only manage around 24- 30 ish with lock jumping on and off

in durham the xtrapls will work but the quality (noise margin) of the signal means more ikely to dop out in bad weather.

the skew of lnb is critical for these as is the focal point of lnb.

The dish has to be spot on as it is such a weak signalled transponder you really need at least a 1 meter dish to get these channels in north east
I use a triax 110 which does not give me any trouble whatsoever and I get a 60% signal on viasat extra pl channels

U guys think it should be do-able with the equipment I have? I use inverto ultra twin also.

Or would I really need to go bigger than the Penta 85 or just need dish adjusting

you really do need a minimum 1 meter dish for the weaker channels. a 85cm will get you almost every thing but a 1 meter will pull in those weaker ones you cant currently get.

i suggest you move to 0.8degrees west. viasat can be found much stronger on this satellite

Have you considered upgrading you lnb too,I use an inverto black ultra and I makes a big difference on weaker signals

What's the exact channels you're after?

Is it the TV2 PL? If so, looks like can be received on 1w...

TV2 pl can be viewed in the UK ( 74% sig on a 1 mtr dish ) on .08 west

the extra epl channels( 4.8 east ) are on a focused beam, so the further south/south west you are, the bigger the dish, ( N-Wales 1.2 channel master, and feed horn = 65% sig strength )
In the North east/East Scotland ( if there ar no mountains in the way ) A 1 mtr dish should be plenty big enough

Iam in south devon and find that i get a stronger signal via the extra epl channnels on 4.8e compared to tv2 pl on 0.8w on my triax 1.1 it tends to vary depending to what time of day it is but 4.8 east is always stronger from me.

AT JCM

looks like I need to check my dish settings then, Sirus used to be in an oliptical orbit, ( not sure if this is still the case ) but if so, that would be the reason for variable sig strengths

you are very correct yes, however the bird that was at that location was replaced with astra 4 a few years back so this may no longer be the case ( not really sure my self here ).

if you look at the maps 0.8w is very much stronger then 4e within the uk and irl

The Viasat Xtra Pl channels m8 only on 4.8e , I know tv2 can be recieved on 1w as I get strong signal on this and watched newcastle match the other week on it.
