The receiver uses an ARM chip. You will have to use Oscam.

What softcams do work with ARM chips? Just OSCam and CCcam?

Oscam is the mai one to use

CCcam is available, but I found it locks up.
OpenBlackHole had mgcamd, I think it only worked on OpenBlackHole

The Octagon SF8008 uses a Huawei HiSilicon Hi3798MV200 ARM C/GPU chip. If you have this receiver or a different one with an ARM processor you will not be able to use Mgcamd yet. OSCam and CCcam are available and working (you will need to use CCcam version 2.3.2.).

Right now the only way to get MGCamd working with a satellite receiver that has an ARM based processor is to use the PurE2 image from here:
http://pur-e2.club/OU/images/index.php?dir=6.2/

Can anyone help with using oscam and a softcam.key file. Please do not say google is your friend as on other occasions as I have looked and looked and not found a straightforward explanation or sample config. Without knowing how to do this I would never buy an ARM chip receiver!

To use OSCam you will need to create a folder called "oscam" and place it into the location: /etc/tuxbox/config/ on your receiver. The path will look like this:
/etc/tuxbox/config/oscam/
If you are on OpenATV you will find this folder in: /usr/keys/

Inside the "oscam" folder you need 6 files: oscam.conf, oscam.user, oscam.dvbapi, oscam.srvid, oscam.ccache and oscam.server. You can create these files yourself if you want to and paste this into them:
oscam.conf
[global]

[cccam]
port = 12000
reshare = 0
version = 2.3.0

[dvbapi]
enabled = 1
au = 1
boxtype = dreambox
user = dvbapiau

[webif]
httpport = 83
httphelplang = de
httprefresh = 10
httppollrefresh = 10
httpallowed = 127.0.0.1,0.0.0.0-192.168.255.255
httphideidleclients = 0
httpreadonly = 0
httpsavefullcfg = 0

oscam.user
[account]
user = dvbapiau
pwd =
group = 1,2,3,4,5
uniq = 3
au = 1

oscam.dvbapi, oscam.srvid and oscam.ccache
All of these files can be empty.

You should already have the oscam.server file that you need. If not then don't worry, somebody will give you one if you need it.

The OSCam that is installed by default with OpenViX didn't work for me on my Octagon SF8008. I had to download oscam_new by going to "Download Plugins > Softcams" on the receiver. Then I had to enable the new oscam in the Softcam manager in the settings and disable the old oscam.

Currently CCcam 2.3.0 is installed on OpenViX V5.2. The latest CCcam version is "enigma2-softcams-cccam-all-images_2.3.2-r1_arm-mips_all.ipk" this version is supposed to work with ARM and MIPS processors. Can we have this pre-installed on the latest OpenViX image and can we include it in OpenViX plugin downloads?

As I said in this post (https://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?60792-Mgcamd-for-Zgemma-h7s&p=480421&viewfull=1#post480421) the only OSCam that works for me on the ARM Octagon SF8008 is "oscam-latest". Is this the latest and best version of OSCam? This is already included in OpenViX plugin downloads but can we have it pre-installed on the latest OpenViX image?

http://www.openvix.co.uk/index.php/downloads/softcams/ also needs updating.

Arm versions of Mgcamd & Cccam do not work on ViX, thus why they won’t be in the plugin feeds Oscam-Latest is what I use on Arm receivers.
Softcam’s on ViX will never come pre-installed, thus why its optional in the plugin feeds.

I apologise if I have done anything wrong Abu. But everything has already been mentioned in this thread already has it not?

mgcamd 1.35a on PurE2 on Octagon Sf8008, Mutant HD51, Vu+ uno4k along with cccam 2.3.1 and cccam 2.3.2 and Oscam.

Zgemma h7 is similar internals to Mutant HD51 so what I would do, would be flash PurE2 into Startup_2 (keeping Vix as your main image) then test the cams out on PurE2 and see mgcamd works for you on that if thats a must for you.

Personally, would just set up oscam.

Why is such an old cam 1.35 in use and not 1.38?

can we include a check of the box to see if it has an ARM processor or a MIPS processor and only show the corresponding plugins? or add labels to the plugins saying "ARM, MIPS" and display in Softcam Manager if your box is ARM or MIPS? Think about it I setup OpenViX, I install MGCamd from plugins, I put my line in and... nothing. No message, no warning, It just doesn't work. Then I have to come online, scour google to find a thread with the keywords MGCamd and Octagon SF8008 (bear in mind I have no idea that MGCamd does not work with ARM processors). Then find this thread telling me it doesn't work. Nowhere on the box did I get a warning that it wouldn't work and it's the same for OSCam, I download the plugin, install my line and... nothing... then by some random chance I think wait a minute which one of these three OSCams is the latest one? maybe I have installed an old version? so I install Oscam-latest and it works. There was no mention of ARM/MIPS. I was blindly messing about with options and I could of been messing around for hours when a simple pop-up could tell me the issue.

Just use Oscam. All the available softcam plugins for ARM receivers will show, and currently Oscam is the only one that works. If it was available it would be in the feeds. Can’t be simpler than that surely.....

Don't you think that theres no MGamd or CCcam in OpenViX plugin feeds for the SF8008 would tell you something?

Anymore line talk and I'll be closing this thread.

oscam is fine on Vix anyways, oscam-latest as many mentioned.

CCcam v2.3.2 works on ARM processors. Also I'm sure multiple versions were showing in the feeds. Ones that didn't work.

i'm not too sure there are many plugins that no longer work that are still included in the feeds. if you dont remove these no longer working plugins how can i know that you will remove others?

what do you think about the option to include the non-supported MIPS plugins with a notification informing users that they are not supported for this reason? then if an updated version is released the warning just disappears.

What the hell are you on about. This is the last time I’m gonna explain this to you. Plugins that are c-o-m-p-a-t-i-b-l-e, wether it is for Mips or ARM receivers will be shown. So because for e.g. Mgcamd for ARM DOES NOT work on ViX, it is not available, but because it works for Mips it will be included for Mips boxes. Same with Kodi, if it is available it WILL BE IN the feeds, if it isn’t it won’t be.
Please stop just going on and on and on about nonsense and try and learn.

Because ViX do not write the plugins, they are put of teh OE-A and unless someone reports it doesn‘t work -nobody knows that the author hasn‘t updated it. If you want to have a go at someone talk to teh author of the plugin.
