Hello, maybe that the new drivers have problems with video management. I've tried with every image updated since yesterday (OpenATV. OpenHDF, Pure E2, Open8...) but now every mediaplayer displays the video in full screen mode (obviuosly the images are distorted ) and the settings does not work ( 16/9, 4:3, nonlinear..changes nothing) .
OpenVIX 5 2 011 does not have this problem, I've flashed back the OpenATV 6.2 from 09 November 2018 and the problem is disappeared

Kodi fixed in that change. Users will have to re-install Kodi and delete the hidden ./kodi folder from their boxes if they still have an issue after online update.

I've used Kodi only for try the Amazon Prime Video plugin (the one for the official PRIME users), but doesn't worked after many attempts so Kodi is removed from my boxes

- Is it normal that the movies are not smooth as they should be? I notice some flickering during the vision. Do you have the same?

You’ll need to enable “hidden folders” via an ftp client. Try different video settings for your video playback issues.

Pause does not work on Octagon SF8008 within VOD on Stalker-QT using e2 player/gst/extplayer3 tested on all, but works perfect on Mutant HD51 using same enviroment.

ignores the pause button, nothing happens, also tried play just incase.

I would maybe say its box/remote currently, as happens on these on SF8008 Openatv/Vix/OpenEight/PurE2, but pause works fine on Mutant HD51 in the 4 I have in multiboot.

I did see somewhere about the sf8008 and these buttons in general, but cannot remember where I see it, maybe OpenATV forum.

Guys thank you for the support. I managed to delete the kodi folder and now the full screen problem has been fixed.
Now I have the very last issue. All the videos are having some kind of stuttering. I think i have tried all the possible options in playback and video settings.
Please check the video below as example of what I mean. It's clearly visible if you start watching from 1.10 till the end.

Correct, its no longer 100%! BUT it's now between 81/83% for ALL services.
In my case I have a marginal 28.2E signal, which depending on whether its a Pan European beam or UK spot beam gives me a broad spectrum of Signal (SNR) values between approx (6.8 dB -> 16.8dB and ALL my other receivers show similar readings although obviously the actual dB will be different across receivers)
With both todays OpenATV and OpenViX images, whatever service you are watching it reads 81 -> 83% 13.3 -> 13.6dB and the only time it is not like this is when there is no signal i.e. 0

This is not a skin issue, but driver related.

Just to let you know, that Octagon have fixed the issue regarding "No Pause within VOD on Stalker-QT on the SF8008 that I mentioned to them, they posted on there forum and OpenATV saying will be in new images soon, but here is a file.

Unzip
Replace the stalker.qmap in usr/share/stalker. (maybe backup that file prior)

Tested so far on OpenVix, OpenATV, PurE2, works perfect.

Always good when a team listen to things and implement fixes pretty quick.

Hard to say. They are working on fixing all the issues, and so far continue to deliver updates.
I have a top end media player, and after a few years still has issues! So you never know.

Have you tried playback via Kodi when you have changed enigma2 player via serviceapp to gstplayer or extplayer3 in e2 interface?

Also via Kodi you could try

Settings - Player - Adjust Refresh Rate from Off to ON and also
Enable HQ scalers for scaling above from 20% to 0%

Then close kodi, reenter and try same media and see if similar issues?

Worth a shot.

How should I know which image has the latest drivers built in?
For example, the last release build of OpenVix is from 13/12/2018, if I perform an online update that will bring the new drivers?

Online update if you mean software update- then NO, this is not advisable. Due to kernel and drivers update you should perform a usb flash or flash online with ImageManager and restore your settings from a backup.
There is a change to the way the SF8008 recognises the kernel from previous versions.

If you run the SF8008 in multiboot mode, this should not be an issue, as you can flash a different slot with the new image, and retain the previous image until you are happy with the new image.

The next OpenViX version will contain the new kernel and drivers - but needs a flash as per above.
OpenATV usually has a daily build, so last nights build should contain everything, but again needs an image flash.
OpenPli depends on when Octagon update OpenPli‘s bsp and when they next build.... you would have to ask OpenPli.

That is still flashing, not updating. It is followed by restoring settings and re-installing plugins.

Anyway, provided that there are no partition changes, a flash (by USB or using Ofgwrite). Openvix uses image manager to invoke ofgwrite, OpenATV uses "Flash online" to invoke ofgwrite.

Do not perform an update.

Both boxes then it is an OpenATV bug, not the SF8008 (I have all those on a ViX build and they work fine)... they reverted a few of yesterdays OpenATV serviceinfo changes
.... thats why OpenViX build on a Dev branch 1st and not direct on a „live“ branch!!!!

My Opticombo DVB-C tuner doesn't work on the SF8008 or the Vu+ Uno 4K but works fine on my Mutant HD51, all on ViX 5.2.022.
The latest drivers install fine from plugins and the tuner appears in tuner setup and the led comes on but ABM scan fails. If I import a cable channel list, I still can't change to a cable channel so don't think it's an ABM problem.

Sorry just realised yours is opticombo tuner so I doubt that's the issue.

Which image do you prefer using at the moment on your Octagon SF8008? OpenViX is working ok for me but I have found there are features missing that are available on OpenATV.

Just for information I have just done a fresh install of ViX 5.2.024 on a Zgemma H7 and added the Sundtek Control Center and Opticombo drivers from the ViX feeds and both usb tuners work as expected.
The Sundtek tuner is a sat tuner and the Opticombo is a cable/terrestrial tuner.

It's not a big deal, the time is probably the best thing to have showing on the front display.

What I mean is on OpenATV you can change how much the volume increases or decreases when you press the volume buttons.
So from 0% to 100% volume can be 5x up/down volume button clicks or 50x up/down volume button clicks.

To be accurate for the 4K receivers (except Vu+) OpenViX extracts the options for each audio type - for the rest it also uses a standard list.

Tested using openvix 5.2.029

Blindscan with USALS motor is now working as it should - thanks for fixing.

I did a blindscan of 4.8e Ku band but it did not find the channels at 12341H (T2-MI/Multistream) which I can get with a manual scan.

DVB-S2X channels were scanned in on 33e

I also did a test with build 024 of openvix (10th January drivers) which does pick up 12341H Stream 40 channels. I think that was before the T2-MI blindscan was added.

Wenn jemand nur Online Updates installieren will und gestern test plugin.py per FTP installiert hat, sollte es vorher per FTP löschen:
d.h. vor dem Online Update Datei plugin.py unter /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/Blindscan löschen.
Danach Online Updates installieren.

If someone just wants to install updates online and yesterday has installed test plugin.py via FTP, it should be deleted via FTP before:
This means before the online update delete the file plugin.py under /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/Blindscan.

Actually to be fair I tried the Openeight image late last night and the autoresolution function seems to be working pretty good. The correct refresh rates are applied and there is no unnecessary resolution changing or screen blanking while zapping. I will test kodi later to see how that is working.

Video playback is greatly improved, especially when skipping through media. Thanks.

Kodi playback is better but refresh rate does not change which causes other problems. Also when skipping through media files in kodi the sound goes out of sync

Must admit don't see any difference on ViX - although I am running off SDcard so might be an issue

Unfortunately the autoresolution plugin doesnt seem to work properly for me on Vix so I have given up on it for the moment. On every channel change the display blanks even if the resolution doesn't need to be changed and I dont have that much patience. Also it doesn't detect the refresh rates correctly for media playback. I'm using a 1080p display but I would imagine that shouldn't be causing the issues. Autoresolution on Atv is a bit better but a lot of gremlins too. So I have settled for openeight as resolution/refresh rate switching seems to be very good now.

To get the correct refresh rates? Maybe I got things a bit mixed up- I havent installed any autores plugin - just using the autores feature in A/V settings. If I'm watching a 24Hz movie then I would prefer it at 24Hz. On my Solo2 I had 576i TV to output at 1080i, and HD material output at its native refresh rate. Great for TV with no video blanking etc. And all media files would play at their correct settings. However the same thing does not work properly with Vix on the SF8008.

Please can we keep this thread to driver specific updates that have actually been provided by Octagon engineers.

These updates are not specific to the SF8008, these are updates in the GIT's for all machines that are supported, some of the updates are driver/machine specific.

testing 11/04/19 driver it fixes forward rewind in qt stalker VOD
BUT on normal recordings (USB stick using as HD) I can still forward and rewind but there is lots of slow motion before picture returns to normal.
Used to be buttery smooth before.

Updates sind in heute Images enthalten. Fastboot und bootargs sind jetzt in den images dabei. So wenn die box aus irgendwelchen gründen nicht mehr booten sollte muss es nicht mehr mit rs232 repariert werden, sondern per USB reicht dann aus.

Updates are included in today's images. Fastboot and bootargs are now in the images. So if the box should not boot for any reason it does not have to be repaired with rs232, via USB will be enough.

I've just tested the updates on Vix build 5.2.044 and Kodi playback is now working perfectly. Refresh rate switching is now working correctly and TrueHD multichannel passthrough to my amp is perfect. This is probably the first E2 box to support this and turns this box into a complete media player.

All of them are affected, in any audio codec, audiosync doesn't generate any delay in the SF8008.

As far as I know there's no way to generate audio delay to correct lipsync.

You may test and find out.

Yes and no, not always. I mean, SF8008 is connected to TV HDMI, and the home cinema is connected to the TV via another HDMI using the ARC from the TV. It doesn't have any effect to/from the SF8008, as far as I know.

Why do you need it and on what - never seen any audio issues on the sf8008The lipsync is to be corrected by audiosync plugin, but the delay to correct is not origined by SF8008 failure. The failure is the mentioned plugin is not working so we cannot correct lipsyinc.

Common examples : sports channel broadcasting tennis or motorsport. You see player hitting the ball but audio does not sync with racket hitting sound. Motorsports: audio from gearbox is not in sync with what you see in RPM meter from broadcast.

Or if you want to use Audiopip plugin to see video from one channel and audio from other channel, usually not synced.

All these cases are easy fix with some hundreds of millisecond with audiosync.

Sorry. It's not a big thing, but those are plugins that have worked since the start of the enigma2 era.

I do not want to disturb nor irritate and will I leave it here, it is just the image teams may report the issue to Octagon and maybe they hear them and try to fix it. I already posted in the Octagon forum, not a single reply, I understand is a minor bug that they might not want to invest time on this, but the bug is there, or maybe is the plugin not working with newest chipset and should be updated. I'm a simple mortal user and enthusiastic of this hobby, just reporting.

Sorry im not moaning but Just reporting that openvix latest isnt found in any multiboot image selector on differenet images and only option is to boot from recovery mode.

Well if Octagon provide us with proper documentation of their change we will fix the damage.

I did a usb flash in December using the recovery image after the last drivers update. I am able to flash latest images of OpenViX, OpenATV & OpenPli from OpenViX and once initialised I am able to multiboot to any image without issues.

... I should have indicated that this was a “home“ OpenViX image build that included latest drivers.

Just to give everyone a update its not related to a image but for some reason slot 5 and 6. Tried many images on them slots and not found in multiboot.

Tried vix on slot 9 and working fine, much like any other image.

Seems someone else reported the same problem on octagon-forum extra multiboot slots.

OK how did you get slots above 6?? Slots 1 to 4 are eMMC, slots 5 to 6 are SD card (which OpenPli do not support) so I would need see what files you have in /boot

Afraid Octagon continue to mess up this box

I use the default script on sd card and think there is 17 slots. I have vix on 9 and openvision on 10 as i was just testing after 5 and 6 didnt show.

Went to recovery slot 7 openpli 7 installed went to start image shows openpli 8 lol quick setup and multiboot works but same no slot 5 or 6

You will probably have to install Openvix in one of the first 4 slots.

I didn‘t say you couldn‘t flash an SD card slot but the Octagon drivers have issues with then accessing lower slots on the eMMc. - this has been known since Octagon &OpenPli changed everything.
I suggest you ask Octagon to provide the support to the OE-A if they want this to work - I am not going to waste my time trying to talk to Octagon(a total waste of effort) to fix this .......as posted you cannot use their wonderful recovery system on these slots, its an absolute hack

Wow please dont take what i posted as a dig at anyone. Thanks for pointing me to /boot. I removed all my usb and rebooted and changed setting for slot 5 and 6 with notepad++ after comparing 7,8,9 and 5 and 6 now working fine.
