If following above guide for a different device, adjust the manufacturer and model names.
Ensure that no SCR channel is assigned to more than one tuner across all receivers accessing the LNB

The sponsor sells a 24 channel LNB which is more than adequate for most people.

Hello, thanks. I've got a FBC (vu duo 4k) tuner connected to a Spaun 21 F with only 2 user bands (SCRS). Does that limit me to use only tuner A and B (connected to A) and leave C-H in FBC automatic mode? In FBC automatic it seems that I am only able to record two channels and then I am restricted to a subset of channels...
Regards

I would attach cables to both physical tuners and leave the other 6 as FBC automatic.

Best to get a switch with more SCRs

Hi all, just changed my LNB to the same Inverto one as detailed here, and set up all 8 tuners as per above. I have a Duo 4k, with a splitter behind the tv, so two feeds to the dual tuner card.
The issue is that when I try and record more than 3 programs at once, I am getting a conflict report. What have I done wrong?

Hi,
which dual tuner card? With one cable from an JESS/UniCable II LNB you can use all 8 transponder and there should be no conflict. I use only 1 cable from my JESS switch and quad pip on my 4K VUs (incl. Duo4K) is working perfectly. At least my "normal" DVB-S2 FBC modul has 8 tuner on board and can receive 8 transponder with one cable. I do not know if is also the case with the DVB-S2X FBC because I always read here twin tuner.

Can you run his command in Putty/terminal and post back the file it creates in /tmp directory

cat /etc/enigma2/settings | grep config.Nims > /tmp/mytunerconfig.txt

See here if required

Sorry if I'm being thick. I've installed putty and run the command - how do I access the tmp file? Tried windows explorer, but ialthough if finds Vuduo4k as a network element, it says it can't access it.

Use Filezilla client (or any other FTP software) to transfer files to/from receiver.

Which satellite are you configuring this for? 19.2 or 28.2?

Tump
01-02-21, 17:14
it's for 28.2

Tump
01-02-21, 17:15
Ah - well spotted! Just seen the problem.

abu baniaz
01-02-21, 17:20
Make sure you disable 19.2 on all tuners where the mistake has been made. A common mistake is to add 28.2 and leave the incorrect one there.

Tump
01-02-21, 17:54
How do I remove the 19.2 entry? It doesn't show up on the individual configure tuner pages, but shows as both on the tuner setup summary.

abu baniaz
01-02-21, 17:57
Press right/left until 19.2 is selected. Then change it to " not configured" as per screenshot earlier.

Hi,

My LNB is a different model with 4 scr (details below). I have looked for a more detailed Satellite Tuning Guide but cannot find one. I have read the guide ver. 1.1 and whilst it was very helpful in getting me started, it does not go into the settings for tuners in enough detail for my needs. Are there other guides available that will help me understand how best to set up my receiver or should I just use the forum to get assistance?

I currently have two cables connected and I am sure these are set up right but it is the leaf tuners that I am trying to get right.

I started with a single cable as I understood the leaf tuners (set to FBC Automatic) would sort themselves out but I maxed out at two recordings. I was not able to record a third channel or view a separate live programme. I applied a splitter and tested the output signal before attaching a second cable to the receiver.

However, even with the two cables connected and the leaf tuners set to FBC Automatic (as suggested by Abu in this thread) I seem to be restricted to two programmes. When I try to record a third it gives me a timer conflict(?). I can however watch a third channel live. When I press record whilst watching this third channel it starts the recording but now I cannot watch a further channel. So two cables are maxing out at 3 channels.

Early in the post it implied that each tuner needs to be set to a separate scr. Is this required or should FBC Automatic work? I only have 4 SCR available (at the moment) so even if I try this I would still need to leave four tuners on Automatic.

Can someone guide me on the best setup please?

Really can't give details of Teamblue Unicable setup as they don't use the same as us. For OpenViX you just need one cable connected (to tuner A) unless you are using multiple LNBs. You link all the other tuners to this tuner. All tuners have to be properly set up for Unicable, not "FBC Automatic". And each tuner will need a unique SCR that corresponds with your LNB. As your LNB only has 4 SCRs you will only be able to receive from a maximum of 4 multiplexes simultaneously.

Thanks Huevos.

It is a Gigablue machine but running Vix.

Will adjust two of the leaf tuners and order a newer LNB to obtain more scr.

I was going to get another Inverto unless you recommend something else?

Any of these LNB's/Splitters will be fine:

https://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/index.php?route=product/search&search=unicable

Leaf tuners should be set up as per the main tuners but should be 'connected to' whichever of the main tuners has a cable connected.

Each tuner should have a different 'scr' value so at the moment you can only set 4 up and leave the rest as 'FBC Automatic'.

Why do you call it a leaf tuner. Sounds like you have read a bad translation somewhere.

The term seems to have been around for quite a few years now. This is an example from the Pli forum in 2016:

https://forums.openpli.org/topic/46336-fbc-tuners/?view=findpost&p=632191

Do the tuners without a physical connection actually have a name?

Huevos

Yeah, as I thought, a bad translation of something in Dutch.

i.e. if it is not root it must be a leaf, LOL.

Branch tuner? Need to see the original Dutch to find out.

FWIW, there aren't 8 tuners. There is just one tuner matrix that has 2 input sockets. The rest is just a software trick so enigma sees the hardware in a way it can relate to.
