Hi All,
This is my first venture into Linux based STBs, and am considering the Xtrend ET-8500 but haven't been able to establish exactly what the Satellite tuners will receive in my setup??
I have a Snipe single LNB satellite antenna (so unable to get twin LNB). I appreciate that Astra (Freesat) transmits on 4 groups HH, HV, LH, LV (Low & High Freq, H & V Polarisation).

If I install a DVB-S2 in slot A, tuner A will select which group is required for the selected Channel to be viewed.
Can I record other Channels at the same time as viewing?
If so how many simultaneous recordings can be made with a single DVB-S2?
Also, are all Channels in the selected group available to be recorded, or is it only the other Channels on the Transponder being viewed available?

If I install a 2nd DVB-S2 in slot B, then connect via a Loop cable (LNB out/LNB In) or via a passive UHF 2-way splitter power pass when A is select to receive a Channels which Channels will be availble on B? Any in the same group or only those on the same Transponder? And, how many simultaneous recordings can be made?

You can only record what is on the same transponder.

If you cannot run extra coax cables, stick with the one cable. Swap your LNB for a Unicable LNB: https://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/gt-sat/gt-sat-gt-dlnb1dy-unicable-II-24scr-lnb

Then you can use a splitter to feed each tuner: https://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/satellite-and-terrestrial/universal-and-unicable-lnb/gt-sat-unicable-lnb

Once setup set each tuner as Unicable and give each tuner a frequency band in tuner settings.

You'll then be able watch and record different channels. Each tuner can watch and record a transponder. So for instance, 2 tuner modules you can watch and record across 2 transponders.
