Hi all,

I am thinking of exploring other satellites. Having a think about what I want, as a first step I would like to pick up some German channels. Specifically RTL for F1 and also just to have some foreign channels available (my lad seems interested in languages so perhaps some foreign kid show might be appealing).

I have a gigablue 4k ue uhd box currently connected to old Sky mini dish (I'm cheshire based so in Zone 1) with two cables from the LNB.

The dish is old, and looking a bit tired, so I am thinking the following:

Get a bigger dish - say 65+cms, but I would like it as small as I can get away with.

Get a multi-lnb bracket

Buy a unicable lnb.

Mount both lnbs to the dish

Align the dish to 28.2
Mount unicable lnb in the middle to get 28.2
Point the existing sky lnb (to the right of) at 19.2

I understand the my gigablue has virtual tuners. so I should be able to have

A,C,D,E,F,G,H -> 28.2
B -> 19.2

The above is important, as I'm going to record and watch in parallel much more from 28.2 - Can my box do this? Assign virtual tuners to a specific physical tuner?

Can anyone recommend a dish, lnb and bracket combo?

Can I use my current basic cable installed by sky with a unicable lnb?

Does the above plan seem sensible?

Hoping to do it all myself....gulp. I have freeview on the box too in case of disaster!

Perfectly doable.... I don‘t know the dish size you would need, but I run with 6 tuners on 28.2E and 2 on 19.2E .... but I live in Germany, so run with 2 separate dishes so that I can pick up BBC etc (need a big dish)

Yes it can.

Should be fine. You get more signal down the cable. So if you have the thin shotgun cable, that may be an issue. Best to try first.

Yes, very.

Check the sponsor.

Worth pointing out that some Unicable LNBs are wider than normal. Should be fine for 19.2 and 28.2

thanks all.

Shall let you know how I get on. Any views on the smallest size dish I can use?

your gonna want a dish size suitable for Hotbird 13e I think and probaly a bit larger than 65cm. It might be on the small side if you are planning to point the centre LNB at 28e

I suggest you point your centre lnb (and dish) at the weakest signal, which wont be 28e. I have a 1m dish with multi-lnb. The dish and centre lnb are aligned to 16e (the weakest signal) and I also pick up 13/19/28e with additional lnbs on the bracket. I`m in the south of England,
