Yup. Just worked.

Bit confused about getting the EPG populated. Not sure if there is a recent guide. I did some button pressing in side the EPG menus to enable a new provider...Freeview UK...that didn't work...stayed on the channel for a bit and it downloaded the data I think via the aerial?

Would love to have it downloaded via internet as I'll likely use Freeview as a backup to sat.

You need to enable eit for freeview - recent post mentions it.

Yup having read that, I'd already done it and see the EPG populated after doing some stuff.

Im wondering, do I need CrossEPG set up for Freeview? Or does it just come down automatically?

Pros and cons of both?

Freeview epg gets populated automatically when you're using a t2 tuner.

See previous thread I mentioned earlier.

Got it. I'll unset the Freeview CrossEPG stuff then.

What does enabling EIT EPG actually do?

It is enabled by default on OpenViX.

Explain more with pictures what you mean?

There are two aspects of CrossEPG.
Obtain EPG from the internet
Obtain EPG from the signal stream (not applicable for Freeview)

I'll have to upload photos tomorrow. I followed some guide that said I needed to update ryrec providers? Then in one of the provider menus Freeview was in there. I added it as a provider. Nothing happened when I tried to download again.

I am now wondering which ways I can get the data. I understand it will automatically download "absorb" when i watch Freeview.

But can I get it from the interwebs...as it's not likely to be watched often as we prefer Freesat.

Can do. Might be best

To get it from the Interweb, the service references will need to be added to the Rytec channel file. The file is maintained by Doglover on PLI forum. There is a UK specific thread. He uses "Freeview" to mean the channels he obtains data from the Freesat site. There are barely any Freeview references for it in the xml file.

EDIT: I have asked he updates the names so they match those used in the EPG importer plugin.

In my opinion, you are better off setting up EPG refresh to zap/select/tune_to/pretend_watch (whatever word you want to use)

Note:
Tune does not mean scan in this context

Use this guide:

It was written with Cable in mind, but principle is the same.
