i am new to all this and so far i have my box up and running with the latest image and i have loaded a cats eyes channel list in.

i would like to have a go at some plug ins.

web broswer? can i use this for the internet?
vlc player. can i down this on the unit? i have looked in the plug in menu and cant see anything.

can anyone help me.

what about the vlc player

the VLC bit is more for streaming tv from the receiver to a pc / laptop. it does have media player functionality however it can be hit and miss as to exactly what will and what wont play on it.

Yes, create a shared folder on your pc, the mount the folder using network browser under network settings.
