Hi All,

Does anyone know if the solo 4k will play x265 hevc file types?

it is a 4K box so of course it does. It also can play VP9 files.

If the Solo4K is the original Vu+ 4K box(?), I thought that VP9 came with the follow on Broadcom Arm chips 7251S etc

ah I think your right. The Solo4K has older chip. h265 is still no problem.

Does one of the newer vu+ play VP9? I'm looking to future proof as much as possible

Yes, Vu+ caught up with the other Arm receivers eventually:):)
