View Full Version : Re-stream from Solo2 to another VU box
Hi,
I have a VU Solo2 in my living room and i'm looking to get a Zero for the bedroom. My Solo2 is running OpenVix and connected to both a Freewiew antenna and also the internet for IPTV Channels.
I can access a wired network from both boxes so was wondering if i can use the second box ( Zero ) in the bedroom to watch channels via the Solo2. i.e. restream TV from one box to the other.
If this is possible can i watch something different on the second box or does it have to be the same channel the Solo2 is currently set to. My thinking is what if i want to turn the channel over in the bedroom or someone is watching TV downstairs.
Unfortunately i can no external antenna connection in the bedroom.
Thanks.

How many Terrestrial tuners do you have connected to the Solo2?

i'd get a mutant HD51 or similar instead of the zero - dual core, runs cooler and quicker.

Number of tuners with signal source = number of frequencies accessible/shareable
BBC 1 on satellite is not the same service as BBC 1 on terrestrial.
Some frequencies have more channels than others. So it is almost impossible to say for definite how many channels can be accessed.
So long as you have a free tuner, the client receiver will be independent
Thanks All, The Solo2 has twin tuners, both of which are connected to the FTA Antenna. So am i right in thinking that if i purchased a Duo and put three tuners into that i could actually stream to two separate rooms, both running independent channels ( now i'm thinking bedroom and kitchen ).
What about the IPTV Channels, can they also be streamed via the original primary ( independent on each box still ) box or will each additional box need its own account?
Thanks.

Are you connected to a dish or antenna?

I have IPTV streams included in my bouquets, so that in C/S mode, the client is able to watch any IPTV service providing its not being used already by the server....and that seems to be true even if you have an option to use on more than one receiver.

An old Dish but the feeds only come into my living room hence why i'm looking to use the box in there to transmit to another one.
Thanks

And also £160 compared to £80 for the Zero !

apologies - i meant Mutant HD1500 - which is a bargain for what it is.

i agree with @imish i would get a different receiver other than the Zero. There is better higher spec boxes at a lower price.
