View Full Version : [SF4008] Update 5.1.008 CRASHING MY BOX
Yesterday i tried to update my box 1st ota update & my box got stuck in boot up mode so i restored by usb to 5.1.007. i looked in vix image downloads & version 5.1.007 is the most upto date listed & is what i currently have installed so update by usb isnt an option.
008 is currently out and can be downloaded for usb flash. 009 should be up soon. just make a backup and restore setting

Same problem with my box both on-line and USB update from 007 to 008 cause box to hang at booting message with or without restore settings or clean install hopefully 009 will fix
Just great i tried to ota update to v 5.1.009 & it done the same so it stuck in boot mode, can one of the testers or mods look into this & get it sorted please. there is no 5.1.009 usb download so im flashing my box back to 5.1.007 & it can stay like that until i know things are sorted.

Well ive just tried that with same results as windy1603 posted up the box just hangs on boot up, i always use the same trusty usb pen so i know thats not the issue. also i just updated ota my hd51 box & that worked perfect so it must be a compatibility or driver issue with the last few updates for the sf4008.
Fresh flash release 5.1.009, its boots fine on SF4008, I've just tested it for booting.
My test image works OK so my guess is something might have gone flaky in the release feeds for this box.

Ive just had the same results by usb still hanging on boot up, so back to 5.1.007
Unless any of you guys having issues post logs theres nothing we can do.
What tuners do you have installed? I'll try replicate exact what you guys have.
I have just checked & i dont have any logs listed even thought it is set up correctly with my user name & email addy etc. my set up is the same as that picture above apart from the version number & date installed. i have installed in tuner one the twin dvb-c internal module & in tuner two dvb-s internal module (not used ) - the resolution is is set to 2160 & multi resolution as i use a new top end 60htz samsung 4k tv.

How can you set up detais if it fails to boot?
The test is following:
Flash 009. (Flash using image manager or USB). Do not update.
Does it start?
Do you get the option to set input etc?
Does it crash?
Does it go in a bootloop?
Can you telnet in?
I’ve done an online update to 008 and 009 without any issues

Hi guys,
Ive had same issue with the update , it took a hell of a long time to reboot after the update.
I closed the system down and tried rebooting again.
The system has crashed on me but it now seems to reboot as normal
Not sure what info you need as I've just set up system log to forward onto you through the system set up
I'm running Vu+ Duo 2
Image: 5.1009 release
Skin: Blue Hd.
On the system does it automatically email you guys?
Please advise if you need me to send anymore info

Attaching logs here (zipped) from the receiver is your best port of call instead of the method you have done.

No telnet, no logs produced, sits at booting - that's before any onscreen display / prompts
As you know I have hybrid in slot 1 (running BVD-T tuner a disabled) and DVB-S in slot 2
I see from the screen grabs that the drivers are updated to 24/12/17

Tsmedia is crashing on your system, delete the plugin until the plugin has been updated

I’ve flashed two different boxes today with zero issues. A vix team member also no issues. I honestly do not understand why your having issues. Baffled , I can provide no further input to this apart from double check what your doing.

If I get chance tomorrow am I'll remove the tuners and then try again.

Removing tuners will have no affect. Disconnect all storage devices and Ethernet and try booting.
Maybe also try latest nightly openatv image.

One other think to try. If I understand correctly you are using 007. iirc 007 supports couch flashing on arm boxes. Blue button > vix > image manger. Try flashing via this.

On my router I can list all attached boxes and their IP addresses...... is that possibke in your environment.

Box doesn't respond to ping until 'starting Linux TV', which is after the 'booting...' phase the box hangs on.

Flash 009 release worked for me.
OK, I have a fritzbox, that fixes static IP‘s on request (typical German technology:)), but always starts with another DHCP assigned IP when you have flashed a new image.
So try to find out what has been assigned..... I have rarely not been able to telnet into my boxes to find out what is going on.... unless the box is as dead as a dodo :)
If you can then telnet , login, init 4 and then enter enigma2 to see the inital log)
Flash 009 release worked for me.What's your configuration - tuners, harddrive, method of update...

I believe there will be an update to the boot files
so i just tried again with the above suggestions & still got the stuck in boot mode & i also tried to telnet to the box via filezilla & it would not let me connect even though i was using the correct ip addy so it must be down to that drive issue.

i was under the impression that you cant couch flash an arm box or it will brick it :confused:

Brick it, very unlikely. Before I sold it must have couch flashed my SF4008 at least 50 times, without issues, and have always done this with my HD51 and Giga4K for the last year.. so try it. AT worst you will have to usb flash back to 007

So we (op) have the same issue, 007 is the last working update.

that is correct i have a working sf4008 box on 5.1.007 & very method to update to 5.1.008 or 5.1.009 has failed with my box just displaying the booting... on the display panel & me having to reflash by usb back to 5.1.007.
I just downloaded 5.1.009 via Image Manager and couch flashed without any problem.

Somewhere in Setup (I no longer have a Sf4008), there is a setting to define pip mode. (Audio/Video?)
Some users are apparently managing to overcome the issue by setting off HDR Pip mode and then reflashing... succcessfully :) but there appears to be 2 issues based on other forum comments

i have had same issue with my sf4008 on 008 and 009. by turning HDR off, you are able to update the software. you can then switch over to HDR after update

Mine was set to HDR+ with no PIP, switching to PIP allowed the update to 009. Turning HDR+ back on and rebooting returns to booting...
At least we now have a possible cause

UPDATE - Turning on HDR and booting box causes booting issue.
I too have relashed and same issue.
