Hardlinks Error

Hi all,

So having tried two technomates which both became unresponsive to user input (no OSD appearing etc) button on front not working, I've moved to a Gigablue UHD UE and I'm having a much better time (although I wish I waited a little longer for th enew VU+ box ..but never mind).

So anyway...with all the boxes I've had I've had a constant issue with this error:

Creating Hardlink to Timeshift file failed!
The Filesystem on your Timeshift-Device does not support hardlinks.
Make sure it is formatted in EXT2 or EXT3!

My HDD is a oldish one from a lappy, but is in good nick with no errors.

I've done a fresh initialize many times within the box menus, and have jumped on to a terminal and checked the result of blkid to ensure it says ext4 as the format etc.

Any ideas?

It doesn't seems to stop permanent time-shift working...or recordings...everything seems fairly stable (barring the fact that if you pause and play soon after <10 it jumps to live).

Have you enabled timeshif in settings? If so how many seconds before it starts?

Yes. It's enabled. And I have tried with various time settings 2..10seconds.

which filesystem is the storage device using?

what you tried and what it is now are different answers.

Not sure what you mean mate.

It's ext4 mounted to /media/hdd

I have timeshift and recordings going to it.

Picons and epg on a USB stick (but that was added after this problem anyway)

Have you initialised your hdd through the receiver setup?

Menu > setup > storage devices > select your hdd and initialise it, then reboot.

You might have to factory reset if a service is writing to the hdd.

I think I'll buy a new HDD. Maybe there is something off with this one.

Can you attach your settings file please. It is in /etc/enigma2 You will need to zip it first or add a .txt file extension

Ok that's more involved and can't do that from my phone. Hang on.

Check your mounts. Blue button > vix > mount manager , make sure the hdd is mounted to media/hdd.

Also check that time shift is to that location.

The df command has shown the mount points. Waiting for settings file to check the TS location. I suspect it is USB

interesting that there is no location for timeshift.

I'd turn off timeshift, re-intialise the HDD > Reboot > Check mount in mount manager > then go back into timeshift settings, make sure timeshift location is media/hdd/timeshift and re-enable timeshift, min of 5 secs.

If that fails highly likely your hdd has an issue.

I'm running a UHD Quad 4K time-shifting fine.

Ok. My lad is playing Mario Odyssey now....will go through those steps and give it a go. I've reinitialize d many times though, but not with a reboot.

I'll happily buy a new hard drive.
