I’m pretty sure there will be a Terrestrial module some point in the new year.

No FBC Terrestrial Tuner. Nothing from Vu+ to say so either. Shame as it would be cool.

Hi Sicilian,

Has there been any movement on a FCB DVB-T/T2 tuner since the last update request? This would be very helpful for Australia where DVB-T/T2 dominates.

Regards,
Ian.

No looks like they are not bringing a Terrestrial FBC tuner.

Hi Sicilian,

Thank you for the update.

It is a shame. With some receivers getting smaller an ability to have more tuners in a smaller package would be very helpful.

Regards,
Ian.

They must be working on something surely, as the Duo4K says it can do DVB-T/T2 or DVB-C, but it doesn't support standard tuners, only the FBC ones.

EDIT: They released info on Duo4k on there website now.

It says this:

One FBC tuner supports 8 demodulators. Two slots make it 16 demodulators totally.

Slot A : FBC DVB-S2X, FBC-C V1/V2 and Dual T2(MTISF) Tuner
Slot B : FBC DVB-S2X, FBC-C V2 and Dual T2(MTISF) Tuner

* FBC-C V1 Tuner can only be connected to slot A.

So they are doing an FBC fitment T/T2 tuner but it's only a Dual tuner still.

Last contact I had that tuner was not going to be FBC.

No it doesn't look like it will be an FBC tuner (as it's saying it's a Dual tuner), but it must have the FBC connector though, as the Duo4K only has 2 FBC slots, there are no slots in it for the older style tuners to fit.

Hi Birdman,

You could hang some USB ones off the back...
We have not had much luck with these configurations. Quality USB tuners are hard to find here and are generally over priced.

An internal FBC DVB-T/T2 tuner with 8 channels would allow a single tuner to cover ALL Australian needs in a single hardware based module. Hopefully a manufacturer will have some sympathy and get a model out to the market.

Regards,
Ian.

You do need to put a hack into your start-up scripts to switch its two frontend devices around (I can't get the code put into Vix to do it properly).

This tunerinterface is called:
Multiplexed transport interface (MTSIF)

Just Google MTSIF for more information.
