Audio subtitles on HD channels

Hi Guys, started to watch a movie in HD and now getting audio subtitles and can't seem to turn them off. I have spoken to a couple of my friends who are having the same problem.
Has anyone got any idea how to turn them off. They don't seem to be on the sd channels.
