Hi All,

I have an external HDD in an eSATA / USB 3.0 case, it's connected to my ET-8500 by USB.
Was watching a recording a recording on the drive last night and it kept stalling and pausing.
Today I connected the drive using the eSATA cable, to see if it's a USB "bottleneck" which could be causing the problem but the ET-8500 doesn't recognise the disk at all, it doesn't show up under VIX > Mount Manager at all.
Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks,

Darren

Power on the Sata drive? If not then find a way of providing a power source

Something like Akasa AK-CBSA03-80BK Flexstor eSATA Cable for SATA HDD and SSD which uses a usb to power.

Thanks for your answers guys.

The drive is inside one of these https://www.startech.com/HDD/Enclosures/esata-enclosure~S351BMU33ET
So it's already powered, when connected with the eSATA cable you can hear the drive spinning, it just doesn't show up in mount manager at all.
Although when connected by USB 3.0 it works fine..

Cheers,

Darren

So you are connecting the device to an external power source?

Yes Andy, the same one supplied with the HDD enclosure.
