Hi just upgraded edision os mini to latest VIX.
now trying to download softcam from pluginbrowser...softcams ...mgcamd 1.38-r5 I get message "failed to downlad-softcams-mgcamd1.8 . perhaps you need to run 'opkgupdate'?"

any thoughts or ideas please.

Yeah its a known issue on that build. Go to the openvix download page & download manually.
