Can't connect to internet

Hi everyone,hope someone can help a newbie.just got my vi+duo and followed the set up guide.loaded vix1.3 image and went through set up, set network to dchp but it won't find my ip or nameserver just says unconfirmed.can anyone tell me where I am going wrong please.cheers jeff.

Are you connecting via a LAN cable or trying a wireless dongle?

Try powering of the router and the VU at the same time then restart both

the router should then allocate the VU a new ip

Is your router configured to assign and address ?

If you can't get the DHCP to work you could go on your laptop, go to the start menu and run CMD

inside Command Prompt type IPCONFIG

IpConfig should list the current IP address for your laptop, it will be something like 192.168.1.25 - go into your VU+ and set the IP address manually to something in a similar range, for instance 192.168.1.125 (the 192.168.1. part is the important part, it has to be the same) and also configure the default gateway etc the same as your PC settings.

hi,
tried switching off router and vu box and back on together but still no joy.
set up manually as maltesemick suggested now got IP address but nameserver still unconfirmed.

Depending on your ISP your nameserver may just need to be the same IP as your router, if this is the case don't worry, just try and download addons.

seems to be working ok as it is. downloaded addons and uploaded channel list.
