Changing the MAC address screw up, help?

Hi All,

I tried changing my vu MAC Address by editing file in network/interfaces and I think I've broke my ethernet. Will not allow me to enable it anymore. Is there another way where I can revert the changes without reimaging it again? I can't connect to the box via filezilla due to the ethernet being down and I'm using network plugs and have no WiFi dongle.

Also what's the best way to change the MAC address without breaking the ethernet port?

Why would you ever want to change the MAC address?

Looks like a reflash is your only option.

Do you have a backup from before the cock-up?
If so, restore it - it contains a copy of the interfaces file.

And, as ccs has noted, why would you want to change the MAC address? What are you actually trying to achieve?
