Hi,

I have just come off holiday and my ET9500 won't start up. When I power on I can hear the hard disc start and the blue light flashes about 5 times then nothing.

Can anyone help please .......

No help but mine doing exactly same this morning. Have you managed to find a solution?

Had a look around and found the issue with the PSU.
If you check the capacitors the will have blown.
I found two that were faulty.5427754278
Got them both from eBay for a couple of quid.
Hope this helps

So i think i have a similar problem with my xtrend 10000. It does not start. I hear a clicking sound when i turn the switch. But i can not tell if i have a blown capacitor

Look at it - the end will be bulging. Or you could post a close-up photo of the psu if not sure

OK I'll definitely post a close up picture. I have a good camera phone. Just hope it doesn't reduce the quality when I upload it

By the way don't stick your fingers in if you are not sure what you are doing - capacitors will hold charge even with the power off.

Hum.. My ET9500 also died.. only Flashing the blue led, and able to draw somepower from the usb ports..
So after searching around i took a look on the PSU board..
but the caps seems to be "ok" as in.. there not bulging. i know, no warranty that there actually good..

so lets order some new caps :-)

So, Replaced my 3 yellow caps. and it fired up without any problems.

I did replace the 4700uF 10V with a 4700uF 16.. just to be sure :-)

Well, to the left of the yellow box, there seems to be something white (?) coming out of the side of the transistor/capacitor?

Yh I think that's supposed to be there. Some sort of glue I don't know.

Failure does not always result in bulging. See post 14 and 15!

The PSU is simple in that it only outputs one voltage. I wonder what the output is.

My guess? 54990
but my crystal ball is broken in a 1000 pieces so it stays a guess

Also, i took pictures of my "faulty" caps after removing them:
54992
54993

they just "look" fine..

unfortunately i don't have anything to check the value's etc..
