I have a 4tb HDD (mains powered) which i used to use on my old vu+ duo which worked fine. I plug it into my xtrend via usb port at the rear. I dont want to initialize as im not wanting to wipe nearly 4000GB of data i have stored. music/movies,etc.

If i check HDD
i get an error:
/dev/sdb1 contains ntfs file system labelled 'seagate expansion Drive'
fsck.ext3: Bad magic number in super-block while trying to open /dev/sdb1

Any help on this please?

Alsoif i go to mount manager it says its unavailable

It looks like is formatted to NTFS. You may need to install the NFTS drivers from the plugins if they are available.

that is a old version of Vix the latest one is 5.0.020 Release that could probably be why you are having problems

There is a guide for backing up here: http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?57193-Manually-restore-settings-from-images-older-than-4-2

this guide is for images 'older' than mine (4.2), is there a more simple way now?

Blue button -> Vix -> Backup manager.

Its always been there - time to read the forum a little.
