Hi

My friend has an xtrend8500 connected to a Sony str-dn1020 amp but is experiencing low volume issues with output. On previous version of Openvix 4.x it was OK.
The amp and hdmi cable is OK as he has tried a different device e.g. firestick and all work OK. Audio settings look fine. Does anyone have any idea what and why it's happening? I would ask the question before I reflash an old image back on.

Thanks

Downmix settings in Menu/Setup/System/AV settings?

Thanks , ok will ask him to try. The default setting for both AC3 and AAC are yes. Is that what they should both be via an amp or should they be set to No?

Through an amp, I would expect set to No. so that AC3 is handled by the amp.

Still no joy I'm afraid ...
Is anyone out there running latest vix via an amp successfully?

I have a xtrend 10000 on 5.0.0.16, this goes through a Yamaha AVR via optical with no issues.

I go via hdmi through Onkyo amp without issues. AUdio levels are controlled via the Onkyo

Weird as with other devices the volume is ok but with the xtrend at top volume he is getting around 25% of actual audio.

What type of tuners does he have?

Mine works fine through an Onkyo amp, have you tried running it via the TV rather than direct from the box, might give you an idea if the problem is with the box output or the amp input

sorry for late reply, two sat tunersCheers, T2 tuners sometimes have issues with volume levels.

Ok but he didn't have this issue in v4 release. So these are sat tuners not terrestrial tuners so should be ok..

latest update, he has tried hdmi lead straight from receiver into TV and now no sound and picture. HDMI lead is fine as works with other digital unit. A reflash from scratch me thinks...

Is the volume fully up on the 8500?

I remember the sound getting lower after an update to vix v4.x.x. I can't remember the exact version, but it definitely got lower. Mine needs to be up near max to get decent sound.

That's interesting to read, thanks

I think his Vix was on 4.0.10 before I upgraded.

Does your setup go through an amp?

Out of curiosity? When you press the audio button what does it show????
... and if you go into the web interface (IPaddress:80), does it show volume as maximum (100) (Left hand panel)????

Apologies twol, just seen this as I was flicking through Tapatalk!
I will try and found out when I return from holidays but the problems has been resolved from a change of hdmi and a reflash.
