Hi

I got my new mut@nt HD51 dual cable tuner today, has the latest openvix but was not aware until a short while ago mgcamd is not used here

Previously only had boxes with mgcamd so this is the first time I've seen oscam.

Can someone please tell me where I can find a oscam setup guide, have looked but couldn't find one using search.

Also it came flashed with Openvix, should i keep this or is the a better option?

Thanks a lot
Trippy

Stick with ViX and you well get plenty of help here.

For Oscam do a google search for "Oscam Wiki". Guide is extensive.

Anyone upgraded from a Vu Solo 2? If so are they happy and was it worth the upgrade? Cheers

My previous boxes was 2x vu solo2 that i had for about 3 years & was very happy with them. ive now got hd51 & sf4008, in my view the solo 2 is still a very good box for sat but for what i wanted i needed cable & sat tuners & id just bought a new samsung 4k tv / both the hd51 & sf4008 are faster boxes & picture quality will depend on your tv.

What I don't like about the HD51 is that you can only have two tuner cards. And the cards are only available in single tuner units.

The SF4008 is the same with regards to number of tuner cards, but it has twin tuner cards. But still restricted to three tuners even if you have two twin tuner cards.

So are you saying the HD51 gives a poorer picture?

Yes it is a great picture but I am unsure to buy a Vu Turbo or upgrade from a Solo 2 to a Mutant HD51 with a sat and cable tuner.

Ah got ya. I always feel internal tuners are better than usb ones. The Mut@nt would be a good choice, but limited to 2 tuners only. Would you be having both tuners for cable so you can watch one n record on another? Or did you want to add a satellite tuner as well?

I would just use one sat and and one cable tuner to be honest. I dont know much about the Mutant box and cant afford the VU solo 4k so unsure what to do.

A word of caution too, with the new generation of 4K receivers you can only use Oscam for your softcam. The Octagon SF4008 maybe your best bet, at least you could configure to 1x Sat & 2x Cable, then at least you can record & watch on cable. But again with the SF4008 you can only use Oscam.

Is the picture quality worth the upgrade from a Solo 2 or should I hold on to it a little longer.

It will all depend on what tv you have ie 4k or 1080p & what content you want to watch & from what source, myself i use uk cable & some sky uk but i also watch alot of content in 4k from other sources ie my private iptv that includes 4k content / for what your looking for the mutant hd51 from wos with twin tuners is a no brainier / pick up a cheap 2.5 hdd & your sorted.

Ref all the people on here who keep on going on about the number of tuners 2x is more that enough as most people dont record much stuff & its normally when you out & about & as for hdd size 500gb can fit loads of content on it.

Can you elaborate on that comment, please? Or maybe point me to where I can read and understand why.
Thanks,

They use an Arm chip and OScam (and its derivatives) are the only Cams that run on that architecture
