The Logitech harmony remotes blow any and all manufacturer included remote controls well out of the water.

Maybe but which one? The top of the range with very good reviews is around £300. In my case it is better with remotes the other half is used too. Introducing something new would give me weeks of stress.

I use the 650 and 630 both can be bought for around £30 to £60 depending on deals etc and blow every single manufacturer provided remote away.

Is there any slight lag when using these remotes?

You can set them up to have as little or as much lag as you want, at least you can on the harmony one.

My harmony is very laggy. Must be a bad unit as everyone seems to rave on about them.

Been using the 650 for well over a year now abu hardly any lag I've noticed , easy to set up via pc. Better by a mile compared to the Mutant remote

I have a harmony 700. It lags, then does double button pushes when it decides it wants to.

TM Nano 3t combo,
GI LX3
Mb micro premium
Solo 4k
Uno 4K
DM 500
DM 800

Rob tried to set it up for me too, same thing.

With yours and Robs experience it must be a faulty one m8 :D
My only gripe is the amount of batteries I go through

none that I can think of and both have been in daily use for over three years. On nine different E2 boxes including vuplus, Technomate and gigablue receivers plus sky uk branded receivers and LG, Samsung and Toshiba TV's.

I only use the green Duracell rechargeable batteries in mine and maybe recharge each set once every two to three months and both remotes are in constant daily use with both STB's and TV's.

I have never had any issues with Duracell rechargeable batteries, I even swapped out my original cannon batteries out of my DSLR's (canon EOS 5D mk2, canon EOS 7D mk2 and a professionally infrared modified canon EOS 40D ) for duracells and they work better than ever.

I switched my 650 for a harmony elite on black Friday, and discovered the elite has a higher WAF (wife acceptance factor) than the 650.
She finds it much easier to use and has much less issue - but I think that's partly because the IR is sent from the hub, not from the remote, so you don't have to keep the remote pointed at the devices whilst it does its thing :D

its all done via PC with their own provided software and a USB cable. You just select the remote(s) you want to emulate via a big arse list and go from there.

If your remote was not on their list you can use the learn function to clone keys from one to the other or send the original remote to Logitech for them to add to their database themselves.

I have the 650 and when it works correctly it's very good. I only have one activity controlling 3 units (stb/tv/soundbar) and all too often it does not switch on or switch off one of the units. The HELP button is well used !

that's often because you have to keep the 650 pointed at the devices, and of course, their IR sensors are scattered around your TV cabinet/stand.
With the newer hub based ones the IR sender is in the hub on the cabinet/stand and the remote sends RF signals to the base hub, which then sends the IR signal, so it never happens unless the bloody kids move the IR transmitter or hub :D
