VU Zero back up and update to openvix 5.0

Hello. i have a question for my vu zero. i want to update to new image openvix 5.0 but i don't want to lose all my settings and favorite tv list. I have a back up in the hdd of vu zero. the question is: should i remove the hdd during the flash of the new image? or keep it on the receiver?:confused::confused:

You can't flash with the HDD plugged in via the usb flash drive method. Via the IM (couch flash) method you will be fine. What image are you currently on now?

Thanks. So is it safe to remove hdd, flash new image and then put back hdd to restore my channels? i am using openvix 4.2
