Hi Everyone, I had been trying to transfer files from a 3Tb internal Hdd in Et10k to a 5Tb external Hdd through Usb connection. I go to Blue Button>Vix>Mount Manager, it only show the 3Tb internal Hdd.
Please help
Thanks very much

What format is the 5Tb disc, and I assume it has its own power supply?

Hi CCS, thanks very much for your quick reply!
Yes, it has its own power supply and is in Ext4. I had no problem using it previously.
Best Regards

Can you plug anything else (spare USB stick?) into that USB socket to see whether it is seen (you don't have to format it, just check whether the hardware is available)?

Hi Birdman, it is working alright, only 2 days back I done a totally new installation of the image and without restoring any backup. I tried to mount the external hdd, still can’t. In fact, I also did tried on all other Usb terminals but still fail.

Hi Birdman, it is working alright, only 2 days back I done a totally new installation of the image and without restoring any backup. I tried to mount the external hdd, still can’t. In fact, I also did tried on all other Usb terminals but still fail.None of which actually checks what happens when you plug a USB stick in.
All you are reporting is a 5TB disk that can;t be seen - it could be that he 5TB disk is non-functional in some way.
Can you plug that 5TGB disk into a PC (or similar) and check whether it is seen by that?

I did a new complete flash with no restoration of the settings from the backup that was created with a Usb stick and is working fine. My Pc is in Windows Os which would not be able to detect it. But I had tried the 5Tb Hdd on other stb and is it detected and mounted. I use this Hdd once a while when my Stb’s internal Hdd when full, to backup all the timer recorded files.
Please help
Thanks very much

My Pc is in Windows Os which would not be able to detect it.It would. It wouldn't be able to mount the file-system, but that's a separate issue. It would show up in the device manager as a disk device (you might even be prompted to format it - not sure what MS Windows does in such cases).

But I had tried the 5Tb Hdd on other stb and is it detected and mounted.Have you done that since it failed to be seen by your box.
I'm trying to get some confirmation that it is working now - not just that it was working at some point in the past.

It's still not working. I also did tried on my other stb,it can detect and read all the files inside. Please help!

Could you copy off the file /var/log/dmesg.log or /var/log/messages (or boh) from the system (with the 5TB disk actually plugged in to the system) and post it here?

I am sorry for not able to attached the file, it seem your website does not allow me,You have to zip it.

Anyway, it shows that you system can't see the USB drive at all.
Which is why it would be helpful if you could put a USB stick into the USB slot on the running system and check that it is seen.

Hi Birdman, thanks for the info. Now I know it accept zip file.
I had also taken a photo (in device manager) showing both my Internal and Usb connected 5Tb Hdd (mounted) on my other Stb. I tried many ways to attach the photo by changing the format to png, jpg, zip but still failed to upload.
Please help

You need to click on the Advanced tab to upload/attach pictures etc.

Hi Andy, thanks very much for your quick reply.
Yes I did that and every time I try to attach the file, a red mark appear beside the file name and show fail to attach.
In fact I am doing it now still cannot attach any file.

Try attaching the file twice (ie 2 files selected) , the second one should work ok.

I tried many ways to attach the photo by changing the format to png, jpg, zip but still failed to upload. You add images using the square icon with a dot in each corner (to the right of the globe with a red cross on it) rather than uploading them.
Although you could always zip them and upload that....

Attaching a zip file needs Advanced mode, adding a picture doesn't. (Don't ask me why as I have no idea).

However, what I really need to see is what happens when you put a USB stick into the running ET10k.

I just tried adding the file twice, it didn’t work. Using the “add image” also didn’t work. I can only append below the content of dmesg by inserting a flashdrive.

Hi Everyone, I had just done a upgrading and it is now able to read my 5Tb Hdd. But the capacity of the Hdd is wrong, it is reading it as 2.86Tb which my internal Hdd is also showing the same capacity, 2.86Tb.

I just tried adding the file twice, it didn’t work. Using the “add image” also didn’t work.Well, they should do. Both will pop-up a browser for you to select which file to upload.

I can only append below the content of dmesg by inserting a flashdrive.Which shows no sign of being recognized.
However, you now say that after an upgrade you can see it - so we can ignore this test.

Since you say you can now see it, could you upload a dmesg file for the system in this state?

Hi Birdman, it did pop-up a browser for me to select files (both methods) and able to select the files too. But after this I need to select upload and a red mark will show besides the file name informing it’s unsuccessful in uploading.
I think not, because I can see the different models of both the Hdd, the only problem is the capacity of the 5Tb is incorrect as it read as 2.86Tb. I am afraid the system will work with the 5Tb Hdd only at 2.86Tb capacity. Append below is the dmesg file.

Hi Birdman, it did pop-up a browser for me to select files (both methods) and able to select the files too. But after this I need to select upload and a red mark will show besides the file name informing it’s unsuccessful in uploading. It seems that here is (was) a recent issue here, that is being looked into:

I think not, because I can see the different models of both the Hdd, the only problem is the capacity of the 5Tb is incorrect as it read as 2.86Tb.In which case I'm confused, as the dmesg report you attached only shows the presence of one disk

It is in Vix>Device Manager

It is in Vix>Device ManagerI don't have one of those. Do you mean "Mount Manager"?

birdman
23-05-17, 23:10
Can you post the contents or /proc/partitions when you have the 5TB disk plugged in, please?

Hi Birdman, very sorry for the wrong info, it is Mount Manager.
As requested, I open the \proc\partitions file and it appears empty. The sizes show 0Kb and there is nothing in it.
It seem I am able to attached an image now, pleased see image that show both my internal 3Tb & Usb 5Tb Hdd is mounted. But the 5Tb Hdd capacity is read as 2.86Tb which is incorrect and it’s the same capacity with the 3Tb Hdd.
