Can't initialise USB on Edison mini - how to format on PC

Hi Folks, hoping someone can help.
Have a new edison OS-mini box. Have it working with channels etc. had an issue so reset the box, channels back but USB won't initialise to get the EPG working again. I am fairly clueless so not sure if i need to go to a website to initialise the USB on my PC, or what I should be doing to "initialise"

Format usb to fat32 on computer. Then insert the usb into the OS Mini. Then initialise the usb via Storage Devices. Then Mount the usb.
