buying a new box this week thats both sat and cable tuners
is there a step by step guide on set up or is it straight forward ?

I think it can be done through ABM for sat and cable. you would setup to your region. for example

Tuner type - DVB-C
Configuration mode - enabled
Network ID - Whatever yours is 00005
Used service scan type - provider
Provider to scan - Virgin Media UK (6952)
