View Full Version : Had 8500 for 9 months. Does anything need updating?
I'm a happy owner of the XTrend 8500 dual satellite. After the initial nightmare of setting it up it has worked perfectly for about 9 months. I'm wondering, however, if there have been any software developments that need implementing.
Any advice much appreciated.
If it is your only receiver, and you are happy with the setup, then the short answer is No:)
There have been changes,, including driver changes, but I cannot think of anything significant that would need you updating if it all works for you.
It would be worth saying which ViX release you are currently on because over time some releases may not be supported.

The Vix build is 4.1.016.

the only feature i can think of use is the front panel dimming
I'm not sure if 4.1.016 still has the plugin feeds, but it is easy for you to check.

How do I check?

Try and install a plugin
Try and install a plugin
OK. I'll try tomorrow.
Is there a recommended plugin for me to try?

Anything apart from picons.xyz

If you can see the list of plugins that are available, then the feeds are working - no need to actually download anything.

I can see a list of plugins ( EPG downloader and about 4 others) so I guess I don't need to do anything.
I was a bit concerned that I didn't have the latest version of Vix.
