I was wondering if anyone has managed to get ncam working on the new openvix 5? I had this running on openatv 6.0 and was running flawlessly .

I have the ipk ncam's and installed 1.1. but wondering where the config files need to go via ftp.

You will need Ncam 1.1 Armv7 Vix build

that's where I shoved them, but not working. says found non standard softcam. am assuming its something to do with vix image? I know you where using this openatv, have you tried on vix 5?

Just ignore it and start the cam anyway.

I find Ncam is more stable than Oscam from feeds and has more flexibility than Oscam which can be found via the Ncam Admin control page via the web browser page

Configs are found in:
Code:

I was reading and wanted to give Ncam a go but that's the same I have installed and comes up as Oscam 11329 (I have it running).
Am I doing something wrong or the link it's for Oscam.

You have to use port 8181 (I think, at work so can't check) it can't be changed.

What do you mean with more stable than oscam? I have been using oscam for quite many years without problems. Between my boxes I use camd35 protocol.
Any advantage if I go to ncam?

Oscam has been rock solid for me also. I'll be interested to know what bassethound means as more stable. [emoji4]

I would agree that Oscam has also been rock solid for me.... thought about trying Ncam (something new!) but don,t really see the need .... unless I am missing something?

Its only my personal opinion that Ncam runs better than Oscam in my setup using multiple readers with fall back readers with out needing regular cam restarts

Ncam will also do steam relay for powervu and will also do tandeburg (obviously I can't go into any details on how it works here google is your friend)

When i tried to change mine to 8888 it would originally take me to Oscam config screen, even though Oscam wasn't installed, then after clearing my internet cache chrome on windows 7 would not connect at all and time out. Changing config back to 8181 worked so i left it.

I have used both oscam and ncam and both are good, but ncam just sways it for me . I also agree with bassethound, in that oscam sometimes needs restarting, with ncam I've not had to this on openatv and openvix since setting it up. running very smoothly. now considering to put ncam on my other receivers.

need to get 1.4 ncam working but not having it.

bassethound

Don't use Ncam 1.4 as this is unofficial release that might steal your date or use your box for bot nets

Just use the official Ncam 1.1 release

I installed ncam 1.1 (arm7) in my SF4008 with OpenViX. I have ncam config files in /etc/tuxbox/config but ncam overwrites my conf and server files with default values meaning nothing works except biss (which it takes from softcam.key I believe). Why is this behaviour? Now I see you mention config files for OpenViX should be in /var/tuxbox/config, would it make difference?

I checked my box and var is pointing at /etc/. Oscam works in /etc/tuxbox/config.

I wish ViX team would put popular cams in the feed so we don't have to manually add things and thus risk something goes wrong... :)

I don't know what's on other boxes (Vu, Dreambox etc) but this is what I see on my SF4008. Oscam-pcscd-latest and Oscam-latest. I installed Oscam-latest. Which one, if any, is oscam-emu?

Anyway what I'd like to see is Mgcam, Ncam and maybe Cccam. I know this Octagon model is new, maybe more cams will be available later. I am really not good with Linux so any addons on the feed is highly appreciated.

That's because the SF4008 has an ARM processor and only Oscam and Ncam work for ARM processors.

You can't use cccam or mgcamd and it's unlikely you will as these cams are no longer being maintained

one of the admins did put mgcamd and another softcam arm on this forum. but not sure how to setup. Oscam is far superior to mgcamd and cccam.

you need to use oscam latest and setup your config files to your card.

looks like you have plenty of reading to do:D

Hi, I have openatv, I will install openvix when I have the time.
My problem is that oscam 11329 it's not working properly, don't know what It is but for the third time stopped working. Uninstalled and installed Ncam, rename the oscam files to ncam and placed them in the var/keys folder but once I restart the box, nothing comes up as Cam when I press the blue button.
Reinstalled the Oscam 11329 and works again but only one card not the second one.

Andy_Hazza

No Mgcamd or Cccam available for ARM receivers. You need to learn Oscam.

you need to send ipk file to via ftp and then blue button and install extension on openvix and atv

is what I did but once installed, where is the cam on openatv? because oscam shows when I press the blue button under soft cam menu.

Hehe, ok fair enough. But they could have made Ncam available since many says it is better than Oscam. It feels safer something downloaded from official feed than try install something found on internet. And I agree with Joe, I have some reading to do :) I used Dreambox for 7 years but this Octagon is different.
